My mum is in a home near Carlisle. They have had a directive from Cumbria County council to start making arrangements for allowing visitors from this week. They are working on it and we are waiting to hear from them.

@JANEG70 oh Thankyou that's great news.
I hope that happens here.

Homes are looking at "patio visits", so the visitor at least will be outside, wearing a mask, so communication may be difficult if the older person is partially lip reading. If the older person can't be relied on to stay put and maintain social distancing, a carer will need to be there, so visits will be short. So better than nothing, but not all plain sailing.

Hi - both my Nan and grandad are in a care hike in N Yorkshire. We have been allowed visits for the last 3 weeks. Only one person permitted, limited to a half hour slot per week.

All has to be prebooked and visits have been in their convesatory/garden area. Visitors have to wear PPE and have to maintain social distancing.

However it's been absolutely lovely Thanks

Hope everyone gets to see their relatives shortly

My DM is in a MHA home in Essex and they have been allowing visits outside in the garden for the last couple of weeks. DB lives close enough so has seen her a couple of times a week. Sits 2m away for 30 mins max.

I've had a letter from my mum's care home saying they are starting booked meetings, outdoor and with PPE , as others have said. This was starting from last week. I haven't visited yet. I can't decide whether the visit keeping 2 m apart with face mask will be more confusing than the video calls we've been doing through lockdown. My mum has quite advanced dementia.

I'm across the water and my grandads care home and a few others are allowing socially distance visits in the garden if the weather is fine and if it's not a visit behind a screen inside.
Thankfully we had a visit outside as the weather was nice and he was under a gazebo. I don't know how I would feel about a visit behind a screen.
You also have to wear PPE, it was lovely to see him after 14 weeks.
Hope you see your relatives soon x

Check with the home - they are allowed to do it now, but it’s up to each home if they think it can by done safely. I know of two which are allowing precooked visits by a maximum of 2 people, in the garden, lasting 30 minutes and you have to stay 2m apart.

We started ours two weeks ago but with stringent rules. Outside, 2 meters apart, 45 min visit, only 2 visits a day, masks, temp taken, staff with PPE in the vicinity (not sitting right on top of the residents!), disclaimer signed
