Just that really. Everyone was aiming for 4th July to open pubs etc but what about beauty salons, soft play etc?

I've heard (either on MN or FB) that gyms and swimming pools are supposed to open on the 18th. The PM (interviewed on LBC last Friday) said they were working towards opening them (gyms & SP) later this month. I'm presuming the same will be for beauty salons and tattoo places etc. No idea about soft play - got a feeling that's going to be a long time.

Chocolatecake12 · 05/07/2020 11:08

I also think gyms will be next.
And salons.

What about theatres? I can’t understand why cinemas are okay and not theatres?

I think the reasoning (such as it is...) is more about the performers and crew, not so much the audience. Though realistically that is something that can be worked around in some cases (see the current live run of Lungs at the old Vic, which is going out on Zoom).

I think they are supposed to be announcing a roadmap for theatres/live shows this week.....

Nail salons hopefully, I need mine doing badly! My local one is well prepared to open with screens, masks and gloves.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 05/07/2020 12:20

Really hope swimming lessons are allowed to start again soon as well, DS was making great progress.

Dadnotamum72 · 05/07/2020 12:47

I think he said on friday that a road map will be announced this week for the things remaining shut.

Praying for the gym 🤞🤞 Swimming pool, sauna and steam room would be nice too. It's the one place I can go for a while when I need to escape from my family.

I'm hoping for that too, DD is really missing hers.

It's not about the audience

Orangeblossom78 · 05/07/2020 14:39

steam rooms and sauna would think might not open when pools do, as before lockdown they were closed earlier

Sailingblue · 05/07/2020 15:45

Our leisure centre have said even if they’re allowed to open in the summer they won’t start swimming lessons until September. The guidance for swimming is quite tricky I think. I imagine softplay would be the last thing to open as let’s face it they are grime buckets. I’d love to be able to book a spa but again I imagine they might be after swimming pools.

I really feel for those in the events industry and theatre. I just can’t imagine going to a big conference for a along time.

Yes my little girl was doing great, I'm praying she hasn't lost skills or desire to swim.

Kind of hoping we will be able to hug the odd person. In wales you can now bubble with another household (any number of people in each household), and not social distance with those people. So you could have a bubble of 40. But we just want my daughters boyfriend in our bubble (there are four of us) but can’t as he lives with his mum. Daughter is hugging him, as we’ve judged it as minimal risk - seeing as they’ve both barely been out for months. But it’d be good for it not to be ‘against the rules’.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 07/07/2020 07:32

Id like gym and tramp to start back for my kids sanity... but Im also anxious about it being safe!

Bol87 · 07/07/2020 10:35

I’d like to be able to be inside & not socially distance. Although I’m yet to see one person obeying the keeping apart indoors rule .. most of my friends on social media have stuck to the rules 100% through all this but were all posting pics of seeing friends & family indoors with no distancing what so ever! A few put that they couldn’t wait to hug their mum but at least they could go to their house & sit next to them 🙈 I’m not sure the distancing indoors rule really got through to people!

One of my DC works in theatre -it's about backstage -theatres not set up for social distancing. Cinemas don't have backstage.

oakwood13 · 13/07/2020 13:12

I am sure some plays could be performed and social distancing managed as with a cinema.
