What could possibly go wrong? Hmm I'm grateful we don't live near a pub.

LeJollieJauneOiseau · 03/07/2020 13:21

6am? Why? Who wants a drink at that time confused

Deblou43 · 03/07/2020 13:31

It's to stop them from opening at midnight today, anyway they can't serve alcohol until 11 am tomorrow.

frozendaisy · 03/07/2020 13:48

Probably opening for breakfasts they need to get as many punters across the board throughout the whole day. As for distancing I think it will depend on the pub. Yes youngsters are going to find it harder but I presume landlords will want to stay open and insist once you are inebriated enough that your time will be up. Let's see how it goes!

Aragog · 03/07/2020 13:51

Some had been planning to open at 1 minute past midnight tomorrow morning, so I guess 6am is slightly better.

But yes - unless pubs actually have lots of restrictions and staffing place, its going to be a nightmare and SD will go out of the window once drinks have been had.

Qwicky · 03/07/2020 13:54

It's going to be carnage everywhere, my BF's husband is a police officer and has said all booked leave was revoked as soon as it was announced. It's all hands on deck and they're expecting WW3 & riots.
I'm staying in, obvs!

IndieRo · 03/07/2020 14:02

Pubs opened in Ireland on Monday. You have to book in, eat a meal and you have a 90 minute slot. All is going well here. Some smaller local pubs not sticking rigidly to rules. Why on earth would you open pubs at 6am in England with no restrictions. There is going to be absolute carnage. Good luck.

Depends on their licence. Wetherspoons serve alcohol from 9 am. Lots of pubs have a 24 hour licence but don't use it permanently.
usernotfound0000 · 03/07/2020 14:12

I read it as the restriction on not being able to open was being lifted as of 6am and not that they were opening at 6am? And as others have said, it is to prevent them opening tonight basically. Even a fairly sensible thing by this government gets criticism.

HeresMe · 03/07/2020 14:15

And someone completely takes the headlines the media show out of context and thinks every pub is going to be open at that time.

Pubs are allowed to open from 6am if license allows, I don't think many will have licences that do, and I don't think many will be open at that time.

I'd imagine the 6am thing is probably tied in with cafes being allowed.

ClashCityRocker · 03/07/2020 14:28

None of the pubs round here are opening at 6am.

Tbf a lot of them aren't opening at all as they need more time to sort it all out, or are planning softer openings midweek.

lljkk · 03/07/2020 20:52

At 6am, 20yo DS will still be sound asleep.
Adult DC will aim for pub around 8pm, if they go at all.
