My friend and I agreed to meet up with our kids on Monday. I'm wary as key worker and my dc in school. Shes sahm. She texted wanting to meet up at a huge local playground and then go for coffee afterwards- I've said no as I'm a bit wary of playgrounds yet and think they will be busy.... hard to explain to kids it's fine to play on playground but have to social distance in school!?
My friend text back saying I'm being silly and noone in our town has covid. Shes told me that's where she wants to go..... am I being too cautious?

Not too cautious at all. Our local council have decided not to open playgrounds for the foreseeable future. Maybe check to see if your council has made the same decision.

If your friend is telling you no one in your town has Covid she is clearly an idiot! As people can be incubating Covid for up to 14 days without showing symptoms, no one can be sure whether anyone in your town has Covid, though there is of course evidence that infection rates are much higher in some parts of the UK than others.

I’m meeting with a friend at a local playground next week. We’re going early on a weekday when it’s not as busy.

@loobylou44 thanks- my town not opening play grounds either- problem solved!

I thought children in school are still playing together in their bubbles outside? However, of course you are entitled to be worried.

You're not unreasonable for not wanting to go. She is not unreasonable for going to the park but it is unreasonable to guilt trip you into going.
