Why isn’t Merthyr Tydfil in lockdown, it has a higher infection rate than Leicester?

Devolved government, different rules.

PhoneLock · 03/07/2020 12:44

That is mad! Has somebody got the decimal point in the wrong place?

More on the story:

Leicester has a population 10x bigger than Merthyr’s.

There’s likely much more movement in and out of Leicester due to its size and location too.

PhoneLock · 03/07/2020 12:47

Also, the outbreak has been traced to a single workplace.

Oh that makes sense then, thank for the link @PhoneLock

I t just shows you how quick it spreads in factories, meat factories, warehouses, big indoor areas with lots of people close together.

They are also happy that it hasn't spread into the community, and cases for the last few days have been right down again, so it seems very much a contained known entity. At present it doesn't seem to have led to any increase in hospital admissions either, though it's a bit early to tell.

This will be what’s happening in secondary schools come September

Alex50 · 03/07/2020 13:21

@Worriedmum999 I don’t think it will but I’m no expert, we’ll have to wait and see. My child will be going back to school in September. I think every parent will have to make their own judgment.
