Testing for toddlers?

I can't see anything about testing for under 5yo. Does anyone know if they can/will test toddlers if they have symptoms? I assume it would be different from the swab test?

My (gorgeous!!) niece, who's about 14 months, was swab tested at the drive-in centre a few weeks ago because of a temperature (both parents are teachers, so it may be that GP arranged it specially rather than having them off work self-isolating for two week). God know how reliable the results would be in those circs, but yes, can be done.

Everyone can get tests, from babies to 100+. The tests are identical, swab of throat & nose. If you go to a drive through centre, you’ll have to administer your under 5’s test yourself. Or you can order a home kit.

It’s really not great for kids. I could get the nose one up DD’s nose but I can’t imagine trying to do her tonsils. She’ll just bite the swab Confused
