Schools guidance and Reception children

The guidance states that children should sit facing forward in classrooms. I haven't looked into this in detail but does it apply to Reception children too? Really hope not.

Speaking as an ex EYFS teacher, reception should be free flow play around a classroom & access to outdoors at all times. It should be a lot like nursery really. But sadly, most receptions aren’t really like that. But hopefully most are not sat at a desk all day doing lessons! They should be playing and then doing focused activities in short bursts!

I’ll be gutted if my child’s experience of reception was front facing desks. They have a lovely set-up and it would be completely ruined if the guidance on front facing desks is applied. I can’t imagine anyone wants to teach reception like that.
