Localised lockdown v going on holiday

I dont want lockdown to last indefinitely and as someone working in a small business I am aware that we need to start opening things with precautions, and start spending! (For those with any money)
I'm slightly confused though by the fact that there are local lockdown, potentially more on the way....but that people are effectively allowed to go anywhere in the uk, and to some foreign destinations after the weekend. Bedford, Luton and Bedfordshire were all fairly high on the list of places being considered for local lockdown.....how will that work with the airport....? If you cant travel in and out?

The list of places being "considered for lockdown" was false.

PatriciaHolm · 02/07/2020 22:25

As Frugi says, that list was nonsense, and has been withdrawn because a journalist with no idea of numbers drew it up.
Both Bedford and Luton have experienced significant drops in case rates per 100,000 population over the past week.

Ive wondered this. If you live in Leicester and you’ve booked a holiday cottage in I dunno, Devon from this weekend, what happens? Can you leave Leicester? I presume people will anyway - Boris said we could have staycations and after the year we’ve had, people are not easily going to kiss goodbye to hundreds of pounds and a break.

Hate to mention Cummings, but if he can go to a holiday cottage with symptoms I’m sure we can go without any symptoms

I live in a coastal area and a lot of local holiday parks are cancelling bookings from customers with Leicester postcodes

Good! If you can’t trust people to do the right thing than others will have to do it for you.

Saying that nothing to prevent them giving false details

The selfish are the reasons your lockdowns continuing

@greenTulips most will have booked before the Leicester lockdown was announced so would have had no reason to give false info. As far as I know everything round here was pretty much fully booked for the next few months within days of the changes due on 4 July being confirmed.
