Self-isolating Advice

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone knowledgeable will be able to help as I can't find the info online.

My son had a bit of a headache yesterday afternoon but it passed very quickly and then about midnight a temperature of 38.8°C. I gave him calpol and he said he felt fine apart from being hot.

This morning his temperature is 36.7 °C and he feels absolutely fine, eating and drinking ok etc. I just phoned the coronavirus testing line and they said he doesn't need a test as he has no symptoms and we don't need to self isolate either as his symptoms weren't ongoing.

I'm concerned about putting anyone else at risk (going to work, supermarket) so wondered if anyone else had had experience of this kind of situation as I know children can get it mildly. No idea where he would have picked it up in the first place as he's not at school and only going out for walks.

Sorry for the long post!

You could always book a test to be on the safe side and then if negative you don’t need to isolate

Unfortunately they said I can't book a test as his symptoms have gone. It's all so confusing as it's been so hot, we live in a boiling new build and he definitely doesnt drink enough so could all be dehydration related!
