I can’t find the figure anywhere, I know it’s low.

My DD2 (8) has really missed her friends, she's found it really hard. DD1 (11) has always depended upon routine with her SEN, and she's facing another big change when she starts high school in September. They also both love their gymnastics classes.

It isn't going to cause long-term damage, thankfully, but they really need to go back to school in September, I just really hope that works out.

Just because some children have had a nice time does not make this right. Their lives has been turned upside down. My nornally loud and chatty little boy is 4 and his teacher who he loves came to our house with his new teacher to meet him in our garden and he hid behind me. Hasnt seen his friends for months or had a proper education. As long as he he had fun on his bike though.

@formerbabe

ALL lives are valuable, including elderly or those with underlying health conditions

Apparently, they're the only people who matter.

For the past three months the lives of children and young people have been virtually destroyed...their mental health, their physical health, their education and the future of the economy. God knows how long it will take for them to recover. We've done nothing but protect elderly lives. How about we start protecting young people?

FormerBabe - dial it down a notch. Kids' lives have not been destroyed. Their education will recover, and so will they. All children over the globe have been affected in some way or other, so Britain's subset will not become some kind of grovelling uneducated underbelly.

Ask yourself what is going on among your friends and family if ALL the children you know have had a traumatic, dreadful time.

I’m with Formerbabe.

All the kids I know have been separated from their friends and normal play and parked in front of screen all day while their parents work.

Pretty shit for them. They’ve never had less quality family time btw.

I've only seen the Zoe app mentioned on here, but posters were saying you tell it if your feeling unwell in any way, everyday? I've had the worst hayfever of my life since March, I'd be inputting 'symptoms' everyday, would it flag me as an under 40 with long term 'symptoms'?

Actually my DC initially quite enjoyed lockdown. It was a bit of a novelty. They were even pretty enthusiastic about home schooling.
We still go out every day for walks and bike rides plus baking and crafts and all that stuff.
But it's wearing a bit thin...they miss their friends and their clubs and sports. I can't replicate that.
Social isolation is so damaging...even in the worst of times, during war and in refugee camps people still need people. It's a basic human need. So what, my DC is safe at home watching a massive TV in comfort, he'd probably rather kick a tin can round a bit of wasteland with his mates.

So why have you flinging the hyperbole around MN for weeks
