What’s going on with Opticians?

I’ve never heard a mention my dd new glasses weren’t ready to collect then lockdown happened, they’re a small local company that haven’t got info on website and aren’t answering my emails

Supply chains were affected too, so for new glasses it could be that they are just waiting until they can advise people to collect, or it might be that they don't have all of the 'parts' yet. It's bad they aren't answering emails, I know the locally owned one here doesn't have a website, but they diverted the phone number to one of their mobiles and have been answering emails throughout. Had you paid for the new glasses?

I had my eyes tested at Specsavers last week after 3 months of blurry vision! I bought new glasses & was told it’ll take up to two weeks 😫 8 days later, I’m still waiting.. They've never taken more than a week before so I’m guessing theirs delays along the way!

Can you call your opticians? They might have an answer machine message with a different number to call or a time when they are in the shop answering calls?

Most opticians are open now but almost all smaller places are by appointment only, including for collections. Have you tried ringing them or popping over to see if anyone is in.
They have probably furloughed most of their staff so that could have caused delays.

With an hour of posting they rang dd has her lovely new glasses on now hurrah

My opticians extended my prescription so that I could order an emergency pair on line.
That took about 10 days (7 working days) but I have such bad eyes a couple of the online retailers wouldn't let me order.
