Why cant dance schools and the like open?

Im confused.
Both my dds love their dance and drama classes. Dd1 is off to uni to study performing arts in Sept and has only had zoom class in a room in the house since lockdown.
My younger one has not done anything but work at home and do her zoom stage classes since March.
Had emails yesterday to say not allowed to open.
I just dont get it! Pubs, restaurants, shops open, family groups all allowed to meet inside. So why cant dance classes and similar open?
Our kids have lost enough by not attending school for so long and its seems they are being forgotten again.
Its perfectly possible to hold dance and drama classes whilst socially distancing and these are business too!

When people are moving around in an exercise environment the air around you is disturbed making it more efficient to spread the virus. A Zumba class in Italy was identified as one of the earliest super spreading events.

I don’t get why they’ve lumped swimming pools in with this though as the virus can’t survive in chlorine

I totally agree, my children’s martial arts class was desperately hoping to start up again on 4th. We have been doing outdoor classes and chatting to the instructor, they had some really good plans for social distancing - one door in, one door out directly onto car park, mats spaced 2m apart for social distancing which would be disinfected between classes, no contact practice for the time being, no bare feet, no changing rooms and parents must all wait in the cars to ensure they don’t gather in groups.

I bet pubs can’t social distance to that degree! They know the risk is still too high to open everything and go back to ‘normal’ and they are prioritising the things that bring in the most cash to the economy. Mental health and fitness be damned!

Its easier to limit the spread in shops, restaurants, pubs etc than a dance class where people are moving around in a less controlled fashion and breathing deeper.

It’s rubbish though as dancers will be slowly losing their conditioning and skills, despite what they do at home.

Because C19 is all, and no one is allowed to decide for themselves if living to them is worth the risk. You might drive in your car to a socially distanced picnic and get killed en route, but at least it wasn't coronavirus. People are dying (and they die all the time)!

I can't think of anything worse than indoor dance classes for spreading the virus. We don't even know what the effects will be of relaxing the current measures and schools aren't open properly, we need to focus on priorities as hard as that may be for some unfortunately.

We do a lot of extra curriciulars and they add great value to our lives, but the problem is that they mix people across lots of local groups and schools.

30 at Cubs, 12 at Beavers
20 at karate
80+ at junior parkrun
Few of these interactions overlap with the 30 (x2) at school.

They all have different levels of risk by participant levels, contact and environment which makes it very piecemeal to judge the potential impact that one would have over another.

My life won't look normal until all this becomes viable as I volunteer with some of these groups.

Karate would be easier to distance as it can be done primarily facing a single direction. Our leisure centre is large and airy.

Dance in the studio of the same leisure centre is less spacious, more twirling in every direction, higher breathing rates associated with increasing particle spread in enclosed spaces.

Realistically they'll be enabled around the samre time for simplicity and venue management.
DS has dyspraxia and loses his physical skills easily. He was supposed to move up swimming class in January but the classes were too jammed to start a new grade and I am concerned that he will lose the technique and stamina of those muscle groups and have a slog to relearn them. He can walk 8 miles now, but that's not the same as breastroke or doing Katas!
