Have some areas stopped reporting new cases?

My area (south east) has shown no new cases for nearly a week now?

I find it unlikely so do people think that some health authorities are no longer updating their figures?

Why is it unlikely? Numbers are low in some areas and have been for a while. My area had zero a few weeks ago and 3 after that.
The way this disease is spread out is very clumpy, not evenly spread.

None in the council next to me either (I check as my daughter goes to nursery over there). But it’s always been one of the lowest areas in the country for cases, deaths & hospital admissions. So no surprise. And a not very affluent area either. But large parts are rural so I imagine that helps!

I don’t think they could get away with no reporting, so it’s likely true. More & more, I honestly think way more people are asymptomatic or have such mild symptoms they pass it off as heyfever or something else!

Thanks for responses. I suppose it just seems too good to be true.

Rates are very low at the moment.

Enjoy it whilst the sun shines

(for no one knows what will happen in the cooler, damper autumn)

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 24/06/2020 08:59

How do i find out current rates for my area?

Rainydaysss · 24/06/2020 09:05

news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-uk-tracker-how-many-cases-are-in-your-area-updated-daily-11956258

You need to scroll down a bit but can check here.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 24/06/2020 09:18

Thanks so much Rainy!! I google the figures daily and usually find daily deaths or for.our area dated ages ago
That page is fantastic!!

We're on page 15 and looks like 5 cases in the last week....

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 24/06/2020 09:19

Do we assume there's tons more asymptomatic or that its prett safe dor us to be out and about?!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 24/06/2020 09:25

The ONS sampling suggests there are about 3-4 times as many cases as the ones being picked up by testing at the moment.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 24/06/2020 09:28

(Sorry for typos. Im fat fingered on my phone and dont register until after 🤦‍♀️)

Im finding this really helpful, thankyou

Cusano34 · 24/06/2020 13:35

Is there anyway to find out about individual towns? I can’t find the link anymore!

PatriciaHolm · 24/06/2020 14:14

The current cases by region are ONLY from the Pillar 1 testing - hospitals/medical need. The Pillar 2 testing - the wider community testing, which now makes up about 2/3rds of testing and positives - IS NOT included in the regional data.

So the regional data is quite misleading, unfortunately.

Rudolphian · 24/06/2020 14:21

I'm pretty sure I have it, but have tested negative twice. So you also have to take into account how accurate the testing actually is

Orangeblossom78 · 25/06/2020 12:46

Ours had it's last case (1) on the 9th June so over 2 weeks ago.

Milicentbystander72 · 25/06/2020 12:48

I'm in the South West. We're on day 3 of no new cases.

SpillTheTeaa · 25/06/2020 12:55

We seemed to have no new cases for about 10 days but one had been confirmed now

SpillTheTeaa · 25/06/2020 12:56

With a population of 238,000.+ so hopefully it's pissing off
