Being overweight is a co-morbidity and we all know that, but what I'm not hearing much about is that it's already known that patients with leptin resistance don't recover as well from viral respiratory illnesses, leptin resistance is linked to a cytokine storms that continues in week 2. Patients who are not leptin and insulin resistant also get a cytokine storm in week one but by week two, the storm diminishes.

Not a doctor, but 50 years old, probably ten pounds overweight, too fond of the carbs and reading a few articles on line and wondering if as well as taking vitamin D we should all be making huge efforts now to cut out carbs to make sure we are not insulin and leptin resistant.

I agree. She says, eating some chocolate caterpillar cake!!

I think you’re right though. Now that I’m not feeling so low about things I am going to clean my diet up and ditch all the crap sugars. I’ve been eating far too much crap through lockdown but feeling mentally healthier now the immediate threat has gone away.

I need to ditch the sugar.

I know, it is not easy. I try and succeed half of the time.
