No beauty salons?

What a joke, hair dressers but not salons? 🤦🏻‍♀️

@flamingochill Don't make this a woman's issue. I'm female and have managed to go to work throughout without an eyebrow wax. Nobody has run away screaming so far. What beauty treatment is as important as a haircut?

I just feel for anyone out of pocket as a result of the decision. Very difficult

BunsyGirl · 23/06/2020 18:02

I had a facial booked for 4 July and I am gutted but I am even more gutted for my therapist who is a single mum and really needs to get back to work ASAP.

NaughtyLittleElf · 23/06/2020 18:48

Lots of salons in my town have been taking bookings including 50% deposits in some cases they were so confident of getting the go ahead, I've got a hair appointment, I'd like my nails and brows done but will continue with DIY.

msbevvy · 23/06/2020 19:27

Having your nails done is a lot riskier than some people think.

Are aesthetic clinics allowed to open? Seen a few on social media saying they were on 4th July. I thought they would be under the same umbrella as salons?

So you can get Botox but not a pedicure?

MrsWhites · 23/06/2020 20:34

I’m gutted, I can’t wait to get my eyebrows done!

I suspect this will just encourage more beauticians to work mobile where they probably won’t follow hygiene procedures as closely as they would in a salon!

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 23/06/2020 20:37

I feel sorry for anyone affected by this. Personally I don't know if I'll bother going back to a salon as I've started doing my own nails. Ok it doesn't last as long but it's better than sitting in a salon.

Inspiralcarpetry · 23/06/2020 20:45

Oh heck, I'm gutted! For me, as taming my moustache is like bringing a sword to a gunfight now.
For my friend too as she's worked so hard on opening her salon. She's got all procedures in place, including full PPE - visors, masks, plastic aprons and scrub type uniforms and all sorts of additional ideas too like waiting in your car to be called in, hand washing, mask wearing where possible, no handbags/magazines etc.

JamMakingWannaBe · 23/06/2020 21:07

I really miss my monthly Thai massage. Don't care that my hair and brows look like shit but I badly need the knots in my shoulders worked on.

userxx · 23/06/2020 21:20

I need both 😞

healththrowawayx · 23/06/2020 21:22

My “aesthetics” practice is run by doctors, they offer filler and Botox - they say they’re classed as a medical business rather than a beauty salon so aren’t held to the same standards as beauty salons. They’re reopening in July.

HotFlower26 · 23/06/2020 21:30

I’m currently growing a beard and moustache... no amount of plucking is working, brought a lumina, not worked.... the struggle is real Blush

HMJCMUM · 23/06/2020 21:38

@msbevvy Yes only if you don't know how to wash your hands properly which a lot of people don't!

All the celebs have had their acrylics done so only sensible people will stay closed anyway...

Luckily my DSis booked me in first so I will still be able to get my treatments and give her money to feed herself for another week ! 😩

So missing my eyebrow lady 😢 she's like a big sister! Used to get teased at school for a monobrow. Mine have been waxed into oblivion over the last 20 years yet still looking scruffy. Can rock Shetland Pony long hair but this delay is crap 🤨

Lochroy · 23/06/2020 21:59

I think there are treatments at both which could be quick and distanced and some which aren't. But it defies logic that they've not prescribed anything and just said yes to one and no to the other.

In my case, I'll be in the hairdresser with her breathing over my head for the best part of three hours, or I could be getting my legs waxed at a 1m distance for 45 mins. And my beautician had already decided herself she wouldn't be doing any face treatments.
