Hairdressing for those shielding??

I'm confused , can i ask your thoughts?
When hairdressers go back to work ( on 4th I believe if plans don't change) , can those told to shield get their haircut ? I get they probably should not go to a salon but could a freelance hairdresser go in?

Well it’s guidance so you can if you want. It hasn’t been specifically said but I don’t think getting your hair cut by someone other than a member of your household or someone you’re in a bubble with (if single person etc) is within the guidelines. Sorry Sad

Shielding is paused from August so if hairdressers are open then and someone who is shielding wants to go then they can.
If you work as a hairdresser but have been shielding you can return to work from August provided your work environment is Covid safe.
From July 6th shielding Guidelines have been relaxed those who have been shielding can meet up with people outside of their household, but it is not advised they go to shops / enclosed spaces etc. until shielding is paused.
Of course it is only a recommendation those who are advised to shield can do what they like when they like and I’m sure some have.

Well no one is going to physically stop you if you want to get your hair done.

My shielding friend has visited her shielding hairdresser at home for a cut & colour.

The least risky option would probably be a mobile hairdresser wearing a mask because of the close contact, in the open air of the garden followed by a good soapy shower and hair wash. (Have just had this conversation with my dad.)

My mums a shielder & is going for her hair cut on 7th. Her hairdresser is opening early for her so she’s the first customer that day. The salon will have been cleaned the night before. Hairdresser will be wearing mask & visor. Mum will be wearing a mask.

I was kinda surprised she cared that much about her hair & she’s a real worrier but she’s an adult & can make her own choices. Her hairdresser is lovely & I know will keep it as safe as possible!

Personally I wouldn't take the risk. Just cut it yourself. I have short hair and shaved it off, no-one is going to see it for a few weeks otherwise I will just wear a hat ! Grin

I thought shielding was advice. It's not compulsory, is it, in UK?

It sounds mad but mobile hairdresser to your home and if a nice day have it done outside in the garden?
