Is anyone sick of this phrase every time I hear it my anxiety levels go sky high and broke down a few weeks ago thinking we would social distance for years and years

Confused124 · 22/06/2020 22:23

Yes I hate it .

MarcelineMissouri · 22/06/2020 22:25

I hate it too. There is nothing normal about any of this.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/06/2020 06:11

Yes, can't stand it. This will never be my normal.

theneverendinglaundry · 23/06/2020 06:24

Yes I hate it. It feel like I'm being told "this is your life now, get used to it". Nothing normal about it at all.

SnuggyBuggy · 23/06/2020 06:30

Yes. It's not normal. It's not how humans behave.

Jrobhatch29 · 23/06/2020 06:51

I can't stand it. Makes me shudder!

MrsAbigail · 23/06/2020 06:54

Yes - I don't want a 'new normal'. I want my old life backSad

secretllama · 23/06/2020 06:57

Yep I hate it as it implies this is our life now.

ScarlettDarling · 23/06/2020 07:00

I think of it as a temporary normal. This can't be forever or the human race would die out! It's temporary as we slowly get back to normal.

Tartan333 · 23/06/2020 08:54

Yes I absolutely hate it, it makes everything seem permanent. I want my old life back, not this empty awful one.

onedayinthefuture · 23/06/2020 08:56

I hate it too, it makes it sound permanent. I prefer 'something like normal'.

Tartan333 · 23/06/2020 08:58

I would prefer to hear phrases including the word temporary.

Deblou43 · 23/06/2020 22:55

I had a massive dip today due to this and sure other people feel the same I agree if they said temporary

Sends a shiver down my spine. Same with 'the virus isn't going anywhere'. Well no, but we live alongside god knows how many infectious diseases. Worse yet is when either of the above is accompanied with a snappy 'get used to it'. No, I won't.

ChocChip01 · 23/06/2020 23:21

Yes I can’t stand the phrase.... It’s anything but normal. I’m so concerned it will become a permanent thing. Chris Whitty kept on saying we will have to live with elements of these measures for a “very long time” at today’s press briefing. Are we talking months or years?!

Deblou43 · 23/06/2020 23:35

@ChocChip01 exactly but the thing is people I know never suffered mental health are now and suicides double .... covid secure is another one ! All these make me so anxious

OP posts:
ChocChip01 · 23/06/2020 23:56

@Deblou43 haha “COVID secure” makes me cringe.... it’s as if every workplace, shop, school has to be completely sterile now to be safe.
Yep mental health problems is the hidden pandemic. I just try not to think too far in to the future and focus on the small day to day things. Take care

purpleme12 · 24/06/2020 00:05

Yes I can't cope anymore
When will we be allowed to stop wearing masks on buses and trains

DannyKin · 24/06/2020 08:09

Yes, exactly. There are a lot if things we have to do right now, and I fully accept we have to do them, and if we have to do them for months, even years, then I'll sadly accept that. But I won't ever accept it being called "normal" because that would suggest it's the best we can ever hope for now. If social distancing is permanent then so many of the best things about my life and my DC's lives will be gone forever (bands, choirs, climbing, Scout and Brownie camps) - I cannot accept that as normal, just as a temporary (possibly long-term temporary) way of dealing with a serious problem.

Deblou43 · 24/06/2020 13:38

@dannykin
There is no way social distancing will stay the world is not big enough and mental health will be a worse pandemic I fear too

OP posts:
purpleme12 · 24/06/2020 13:49

Maybe not but how long is this whole thing for
I can't drive we used to go everywhere on buses and trains
Masks make me panic going over me
I haven't been on one since before all this
Nothing has the same appeal anymore what with having to get the buses and trains
I've never felt I've been left behind not driving before a pandemic came along
