Can we go on holiday?!

Ok so I'm making assumptions here but if the government announces tomorrow a lifting on travel to Spain does that mean we technically still can go on our end of July holiday? I'm not looking for judgements just wondering what to expect?!

I wish I knew! I'm wondering whether to plan a holiday this summer or not, curious to know what others are doing.

Yes. If FCO advice changes and if your plane is leaving, you can go.

Actually, you can still go even if FCO advice doesn’t change, but you may not then have valid insurance.

I won’t judge, I’m still hoping for my USA holiday and if I don’t go there, I’ll book somewhere else abroad.

if the government announces tomorrow a lifting on travel to Spain

The govt has never forbidden people from going to Spain or anywhere else. The FCO are just advising against all non-essential travel which means you can still go (if you manage to find a flight there) but travel insurance may be null and void.

TUI have announced 7 potential locations they are hoping to resume holidays too from early July, pending FCO advice.

I am really hoping they extend to long haul. Booked to go away in October and hopeful to still go.

They need to lift the FCO travel ban. My flights to the USA have been cancelled in August. But I would like a break away somewhere if we can.

Lemons1571 · 22/06/2020 20:07

We’ve cancelled USA and booked here in the UK. I’d love to go abroad but I can’t quite manage it yet, it feels a bit too soon for me given we couldn’t even drive for exercise 9 weeks ago. Mind you the summer is a good time to go in case the virus resurges in the autumn.

Our flights to the USA have been announced as cancelled by Virgin today but surprise surprise we haven’t heard from them! We are hoping to plan a self drive holiday to France instead when they announce the end of the reciprocal quarantine.

No judgement here, we're still hoping to go on our holiday to Portugal at the end of July. We need the FCO to remove the advice on essential travel only so our insurance is valid, and we need the quarantine period on return to UK lifted and then we're good to go! I didn't realise they might announce this tomorrow though, I thought it was being reviewed on the 29th June.
