UK hotels in mid July

We were due to get married on the 16th July. We've postponed until next July. Everything switched over no problems.

Except we just realised we have hotel bookings (us in a Crown Plaza, 2 sets of parents in Jury's Inn) and we've not done anything about them.

We didn't book either with a cancellations policy. All booked on debit cards, not credit cards. Paid upfront

We're not sure whether to contact them or wait and hope hotels are still closed. Are we likely to be able to carry the bookings over or not because we don't have cancellations protection?

I’d contact them and ask. If they open they might be happy to have the rooms back as many people might be looking at UK breaks.

I would contact them and ask to carry the bookings over. Hotels may well be allowed to open in England by mid-July so you can't necessarily rely on them having to give you a refund.
