Covid

Has anyone had covid19, felt a bit crap for a few day and then been fine?

Just as per the title really. I know of one death,( age 66 with underlying health conditions) and 3 people who have had it, been unwell (like really unwell but at home) for about 7 weeks now, keep getting better then knocked back again.

Has anyone had it, and just mildly, a few days in bed and then bounced back?
I’ve resigned myself to getting it, but wondering what my chances are. Have small children so it’s worrying. Not sure how I would isolate from them or who would look after them if I couldn’t.
Thank you

@Mumteedum
Based on what happened to my friend, your symptoms sound very similar. I'd get a test just to find out if I was you. I hope you feel better soon. My friend also said that it came and went in waves, so she'd get up feeling better, then it would floor her a few hours later, and she'd go to bed, have a nap, but still feel exhausted by bedtime. Actually, she said the tummy thing reminded her of early pregnancy, just off her food, bit of discomfort and exhaustion. Funny taste in her mouth. Does that tally with your symptoms?

Hmm no funny taste. My stomach was just churning couple days ago. Has settled down a bit now but did have cramps briefly earlier. My head is thumping still and feel really exhausted now after day working (from home). Heart pumping quite hard too. My BP was up the other day but has settled again.

The test site says it's no good if it's more than 5 days since symptoms started.

Yeah DH and I had it in March. Ill for two or three days (still wfh but feeling grotty and would have taken a day off if we hadn't been); tired and run down for two or three more. No sense of taste or smell for a week. Absolutely fine (out running again) within a week.

@Mumteedum
Your symptoms are of typical of what happens when we fight a virus. So, it's either Covid or another. Frustrating about the test saying you need to take it within five days. I suppose all you can do is take it as easy as you can, and perhaps get an antibody test in a month or so (although they aren't that accurate). It is really annoying, not knowing.

I think I had it early March - before lockdown, but I don't know! I know how you feel.

Yes. Don't think we can get antigen tests now either unless you're essential worker? They seem to have withdrawn the ones you could buy. It's worrying because although I've been too poorly to go out mostly I did think I was better Friday and popped out for milk. I didn't really think about not going out because I don't have the listed symptoms. This is how it spreads I think. Though I am very clean and didn't go near anyone really!

Early May I had 48 hours of feeling fatigued, loss of appetite, mild muscle aches and generally being under the weather

Because I had no cough whatsoever, no temperature and no breathing difficulty I didn't get swabbed

Had my antibodies checked and come back positive. I worked all the way through it. Oops.

@AnyFucker
That's really interesting, another one with none of the obvious symptoms who has had it.
Your symptoms - I often has those, because I have fibromyalgia, so I would just assume that it was a flareup. And indeed, I've had fibro flareups, and worked (in a school) throughout them. Bloody hell!

Have you had antibody testing Sophie ?

Report
SophieB100 · 22/06/2020 20:27

@Mumteedum
They withdrew the antibody tests (which you could buy in Superdrug) because they were too inaccurate.
I think I could get one, because I'm classed as a keyworker (school), but I won't because even those are not as accurate as they should be. Also, some people have had it but don't develop antibodies, and others are naturally immune anyway.
Also, they don't know yet whether having had it once stops you getting it again. Too many variables.

@AnyFucker
No - am going to wait until more accurate testing.

Mid 30s, female, no underlying conditions, white, normal weight. Never tested but had cough, tiredness and general feeling rubbish for a few days as schools closed in March. Nothing so bad I couldn’t look after my children and we figured that with a sick preschooler at the same time the chances of the other two family members not already having been exposed were minimal anyway. Had a dry cough and slight breathlessness for a few weeks afterwards (bit like how I imagine asthma might feel but I’ve never been asthmatic) and now entirely back to normal. Never needed medical help.

Sick preschooler had a temperature, cough and streaming eyes for a couple of days then completely fine. Other DC (the asthmatic one) had no symptoms whatsoever and neither did my DH who normally really suffers with colds and is prone to post viral wheeze. No guarantee they actually caught whatever I had of course.

I've had a positive antibody test. I had a week where I was coughing slightly, wheezy and needed my inhaler a bit more than usual, complete loss of taste, smell and appetite (and I never lose my appetite!!) and got tired easily. A week after I was completely recovered I got a week long headache that I couldn't shift.At no point would I have described myself as anything more than "under the weather" I still mowed the lawn and sorted out my wardrobe and kitchen cupboards.

Interestingly several of my closest work colleagues had exactly the same pattern of symptoms including the stubborn headache a week after it appeared to be over.

Received my positive antibodies result today, tested positive for Covid on 30/4. Very pleased I’ve developed antibodies as it means I’m more likely to be immune.

Mild symptoms here
Sore throat, clanging headache, mild temp for one day, asthma symptoms and tight chest and one incident of being not being able to breathe which lasted a couple of seconds - felt rubbish for about 5 days but worked at home through out.
Husband and kids same.
I'm almost certain - it was start of lockdown, live in London, work in Westminster (not a politician ) and it was about 7 days after I last was there.
Awaiting results on antibodies

Me and DP sometimes wonder. I think it was in Early April. 1yo had a high temperature and very sleepy for a few days. Somewhere around the same time, we all had bad stomachs, felt a bit under the weather and drained for a few days. I also had slight shortness of breath but I also have asthma. My chest felt tight for days and my reliever did nothing. I honestly bhave no idea if we did though.

Those of you who have had it, mildly, and had an antibody test result positive - how did you get an antibody test?

So I think I had it in March. I mostly felt fatigued and that lasted on and off for about 10 days, then I was ok again.

My DD's had a cough and temp the week before the schools closed, so mid March?? (I've forgotten!) Lasted just over a week. Very very dopey and lethargic for the first 2ish days. DH and I had sore throats and absolutely knackered, but could have been just a general bug.... My best friend had it at the same time, lost her voice and coughy. Without an antibody test though we will never know...... Is there any chance of the antibody tests being rolled out nationwide after front liners have had them??

Those of you who have had it, mildly, and had an antibody test result positive - how did you get an antibody test?

I paid for one - I really wanted to know whether I'd had it.

I just got results. Negative! Obviously another bug.
