Has anyone had covid19, felt a bit crap for a few day and then been fine?

Just as per the title really. I know of one death,( age 66 with underlying health conditions) and 3 people who have had it, been unwell (like really unwell but at home) for about 7 weeks now, keep getting better then knocked back again.

Has anyone had it, and just mildly, a few days in bed and then bounced back?
I’ve resigned myself to getting it, but wondering what my chances are. Have small children so it’s worrying. Not sure how I would isolate from them or who would look after them if I couldn’t.
Thank you

Wondering if I had it mild. I was teaching up to March 20th and various staff and kids were droping like flies with 'colds'/tiredness. Have since found out that a few had confirmed tests/family members confirmed hospitalised, including a girl in my class. My main symptom was a bad headache and sore throat, felt like something was stuck and I was teally tired. Sleeping for 10 hours tired.
But could still cope, went for walks etc and had paracetamol and gargled asprin.

I started with symptoms on the 21st of March. I'm asthmatic and just assumed I was having a flare up of this. Took my pump a bit more, had a cough and thought the pain in my right lung was a pulled muscle! DH started to feel unwell 5 days after, he was very ill and eventually ended up in hospital and tested positive. The whole time he was ill I carried on cooking and making sure he had everything he needed. We think DS started it (NHS) he just had a hacking cough that lasted 6 weeks. For me and DS it was so mild we both said we'd take it over flu any day! I have had reoccurring symptoms since, which for me have been worse than when I had it, 36 hours with a really sore throat, 24 hours with awful stomach cramps, but DS has had nothing.

Wow wondering if I should order a test after reading this thread. Had a banging headache yesterday and today woken up with a moderately sore throat. No fever or cough though

cologne4711 · 21/06/2020 08:08

I had something in March but I thought it was another virus unhelpfully doing the rounds at the same time. I had a tight chest, a sort of bubbling feeling in my lungs and felt a bit feverish for a few hours. I also had bit of a cough, but by no stretch "persistent" or "continuous".

A reliable antibody test would be helpful but if they think you can fight it with t-cells then a test won't be conclusive.

Mumteedum · 21/06/2020 08:35

I've been ill for 10 days now. Started as a hangover feeling and exhausted. Then chills for a day. No fever when measured temperature but have felt clammy off and on. I got intermittent thumping head, muscle aches and just exhausted. I also had funny churning tummy for few days but not exactly upset stomach. I keep hoping I'll wake up and be over it but here I am on day 10 still feeling awful.

I won't be able to get a test without the 4 listed common symptoms though will I?

It's likely some other bug?

veryhungryhippo · 21/06/2020 10:48

I've had mild symptoms confirmed with a test. No cough or fever, had a sore throat, chest felt congested, nausea, dizziness and headache. Had a couple of days in bed but up and about now, just get a bit tired if I do too much. Isolating from the kids was hard and it didn't really work because they are young. I don't regret getting a test even though I didn't have the classic symptoms. It's a good job I did really because one DC was due back at school and could have been spreading it to his bubble and teacher.

Jrobhatch29 · 21/06/2020 10:49

@Mumteedum i have just ordered a home test just to be sure. Didnt ask me about my symptoms x

Gwenhwyfar · 21/06/2020 10:54

Friend of mine had a tickle in his throat, got a test just in case and was positive. His partner tested negative. He said it was even less than a cold.
He hadn't been anywhere other than the supermarket so I definitely don't agree with the poster above that it's not around in the community any more. It's obviously in the shops near me.

Mumteedum · 21/06/2020 10:55

@Jrobhatch29 oh really? OK. I will have a look then. It said on site that you could get one if you had the symptoms listed

Mumteedum · 21/06/2020 11:00

Oh.. It says its no good if symptoms have been happening for 5 days already

Jrobhatch29 · 21/06/2020 11:11

Such a weird virus. No wonder it has spread so much when the symptoms are so varied and can be so mild

TeaAndBisquits · 21/06/2020 15:45

I'm pretty sure we had it in our house.

Over the course of 1-2 weeks, we all started with symptoms one after the other.

DD1 had a cough for about 10 days and a temperature for 2-3.

I started with a cough that lasted for 4-5 weeks and was in bed for 2 days around day 6-7 of symptoms.

DD2 was very tired and sluggish for 2-3 days and off her food, but no other symptoms.

DH had very bad 'hayfever and a tight chest' for a week or so. I'm convinced it was mild covid, but he was adamant at the time it wasn't.

Isotope456 · 21/06/2020 17:09

My friend's daughter-in-law, 35 years old, tested positive as part of routine testing (key worker). She had no symptoms at all, either before or after the test.

HelloMissus · 21/06/2020 17:20

I know a nurse who had only a headache for a couple of days then scratchy throat.

Millivachilly · 21/06/2020 22:13

Yes I did. In March I had a headache, dry cough suddenly and one episode of not being able to breathe properly. That was all over 1.5 days and then I felt a bit under the weather and tired for a few days with a bit of lung pain and then feeling a bit breathless when walking up hills. It was really very mild and I would have continued working as normal if it wasn't for the known pandemic! I had a positive antibody test recently.

rc22 · 21/06/2020 22:36

I had it last week. Bad headache for day 1 then fever which only lasted a couple of hours. Tested on day 2 but had no symptoms. Received positive test result on day 3 but no symptoms until the evening when i felt very slightly breathless and had very mild chest pain. Day 4 still slight chest pain. Day 5 sense of smell and taste went. Now on day 14. Symptoms all gone (sense of taste and smell came back a couple of days ago) but still extremely tired. I have felt crapper with flu and even with heavy colds before! Just hoping I don't take a turn for the worse at any point.

Whatelsecouldibecalled · 21/06/2020 22:38

Yes @Ploppymoodypants my step dad had what you have described. He tested positive. He had a test as my mum also had it (and strangely was much more poorly) and had tested positive a few days before. She is a nhs nurse and probably got it from work. Took my mum a good few weeks to be better. She was close to being hospitalised. My step dad just felt rough for a few days. This was 6 weeks ago

FizzFan · 21/06/2020 22:57

I was unwell in Feb, I was off work for a week which is unusual for me and it was worse than a cold but not as bad as flu.

I had sore throat, cough, muscle aches particularly around the diaphragm, sickness and diarrhoea, fatigue. It was a really odd virus. Covid never crossed my mind at the time but I’d love an antibody test.

FizzFan · 21/06/2020 22:59

Oh and I had a temperature as well. Kept having to change my pyjamas in the night as they were sodden.

Jrobhatch29 · 22/06/2020 10:17

Anyone who had a home test how long dod it take to arrive? And do they just post it through letter box?

SophieB100 · 22/06/2020 11:32

A HCA I know tested positive - all she had was a dodgy tummy (not sick, just a bit of discomfort), slightly dizziness and very tired. Lasted about a week. No cough, temp or loss of taste/smell. She took time off work because she thought it was another virus type thing, and didn't want to take any chances. Work told her to get a test - and she was amazed it was positive.

It obviously has varying symptoms to the ones they highlight.

Mumteedum · 22/06/2020 13:23

@SophieB100. That is exactly how I've been been for 10 days now.

Jrobhatch29 · 22/06/2020 13:35

I have an upset tummy today too, sore throat still and just generally feel rough

NowImLivinInExeter · 22/06/2020 15:47

Me and everyone I know (approximately 10, including 2 people in their 70s with multiple co morbidities) have had it like this. If I hadn't knowni t was covid I'd still have gone to work, that's how fine I felt.

toolatetooearly · 22/06/2020 16:29

My US colleague tested positive - he worked (and zoomed) throughout, he just felt a bit tired and crappy, but nothing too bad. He was fine again within a week.
