Covid test on children

How do you successfully do a swab test on your DC? We tried three times (kept pushing tongue up) today and the last one still came back inconclusive. Going again tomorrow and going to take a palette knife to hold tongue down.
Any suggestions?

you can just do it up both nostrils if throat swab too difficult with a young child.
Stick up each nostril in turn and whizz around a bit. It does need to go quite high but not so that it causes pain
