Return to school separated parents

Can anyone tell me if both parents need to consent to children returning to school/ nursery where the parents are separated ?

I don’t know on official rules but I checked with my children’s dad before .

If you're on good terms, start a conversation, if hes a nasty piece of work, return to school and let him apply for a prohibited steps order he'd look a right prat.

As with any issue, either party could take it to court if they feel strongly (although of course waiting times are very long at present).

Best to try and discuss - maybe by email so there is evidence you've tried.

H didn't want year 10 dc to return.
He got his dad to phone me to ask me why I thought it was a good idea etc..

Hi OP, I approach DD's dad regarding important decisions such as that. We rarely agree but as resident parent, I get the final say. Life is easier that way.

Thanks all he is a nasty vindictive person and if I give him an ounce of control over anything he takes over completely and is horribly contrary.
The children live with me 100% of the time and see him a few hours every other week with two supervisors so I don’t feel he should have a say if they return to school as it’s me who is homeschooling and working full time but he does like to take me to court on a whim so thought I would check.
As he lives with elderly relatives he might not be keen on kids going back that’s my concern but they are the contact supervisors so moving out wouldn’t help him either.
