Just curious--any predictions?

I think we will have a vaccine or treatment by then the economic fall out wiii be horrendous I am more worried about that than the virus

RhianFuckingMorris · 19/06/2020 21:35

Lots of interruption to the new normal well just be getting used to.
Everyone with normal winter coughs and colds will be self isolating as I expect another shortage if tests as we go deeper into winter.
It's going to be shit.
A positivexwill hopefully be a simpler cut back christmas where the highlightcwill be on family and friends more than piles if shit to unwrap.

amusedtodeath1 · 19/06/2020 22:00

Hoping for the best, prepared for it to get bad just in case. Just a case of waiting to see.

U8myufo · 19/06/2020 22:36

Not much fun trying to dodge Norovirus and Coronavirus! 🤢

Mascotte · 19/06/2020 23:29

Do people genuinely spend their time avoiding viruses?

Mascotte · 19/06/2020 23:31

I mean, i generally observe good hygiene and avoid people puking, but it's not really uppermost in my mind, generally speaking.

B9008 · 19/06/2020 23:32

Winter is bleak in this country anyway without this thrown in.

Newjez · 20/06/2020 07:03

If this comes back again over winter then I think we need to get rid of Boris and get a proper leader. This is really too serious to have someone doing the job part time. We need decisive leadership. People will go insane under second lockdown if there isn't clear guidance on what is happening.

I think a lot of people will spend their way through the misery.

I don't think the country can afford a second lockdown. If it starts spreading again and pubs etc are still open then it could be way worse than what we've had so far.

IwishIhadaMargarita · 21/06/2020 20:23

There will be benefits:
Not having to think up and excuse for the Christmas night out hell.

Sending Mil home as we don’t want people staying over.

Yeah, definitely bring in that guy who isn't sure whether he wants to open the schools... vs the floppy haired twat who, to be fair, it getting shops, schools and workplaces open again.
fififorgetmenotforgot68 · 21/06/2020 21:57

Bleak, cold, unemployment at an all time high and to add to the mix a second wave waiting on the doorstep !!

Mascotte · 21/06/2020 22:14

My, @fififorgetmenotforgot68 you're a little ray of sunshine

fififorgetmenotforgot68 · 21/06/2020 23:06

Mascotte...So you think everything is going to hunkadory now ? Lord, I don't know where you have been the last few months but life for folk out there is ruddy hard...Set to get harder over the coming months...Face facts instead of taking the Piss!!

Lemonmaid · 21/06/2020 23:18

I think the worst of the virus will be behind us and social distancing will be relaxed by then, but there will be mass unemployment, poverty like we have never seen before, the gap between the rich and poor growing, and no large Christmas or NYE parties.

We will be reflecting on what happened, snd relieved that the virus has faded away or found a cure, but reeling massively from the aftermath.

The world will hsve changed forever.

Mascotte · 21/06/2020 23:20

@fififorgetmenotforgot68 the facts are that we are coming out of this horrible time with the virus. Businesses, pubs and socialising will open up. People will see friends and family. People will get back to normal, slowly but surely, holidays and nice times await.

It's happening in other countries already.

zeddybrek · 21/06/2020 23:22

I work in banking and it is shocking how many businesses depend on the boost in sales over Christmas to keep them going through the rest of the year. There are even some that make losses all year and then more than make up the difference over Christmas. So this is making me concerned that the real impact, particularly on job losses, won't be felt until early next year.

fififorgetmenotforgot68 · 21/06/2020 23:33

Mascotte not everyone's life will return back to normal...Folk have lost loved ones due to this virus...People will be losing their jobs so no money to socialise or holidays. The threat is always there until we find a cure !

Mascotte · 21/06/2020 23:40

Some people are just determined to cling onto doom and misery 🤷‍♀️

FizzFan · 21/06/2020 23:47

I agree with most of that @Lemonmaid but why do people keep saying this as if it was fact

The world will hsve changed forever.

I don’t think it will, in a few years this will all be forgotten about or at least firmly in the past and we’ll be back to normal. Even if there’s a massive depression with long term effects that still won’t be “forever”.’

meditrina · 22/06/2020 09:30

That would be a pity FizzFan

There is a massive opportunity to change some of the most destructive habits of society (climate change, social inequality) and to give greater province to others that might be beneficial (flexible working, sense of community)

NowImLivinInExeter · 22/06/2020 15:53

Winter is bleak in this country anyway without this thrown in.

Is it? Confused

Barely dipped below 10 degrees in my neck of the woods last year. Hoping for a proper freezing cold winter this year.

MarshaBradyo · 22/06/2020 15:56

Hopefully school situation sorted out (better be!)

Many still wfh

Some elements of 1m SD in place

Redundancies but hopefully mitigated by things opening up

MarshaBradyo · 22/06/2020 15:57

There won’t be another lockdown as we’ve had, too hard, too expensive.
