Toddlers and social distancing?

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to see what others are doing who have toddlers, and whether you are trying to get them to stick to the 2 metre rule when meeting up with family from other households outside?
I have an 18 month old who was looked after by my mum whilst I was in work 3 days a week, I have been on furlough since March so have not needed childcare but I know both my son and his nan are really missing each other.
What's everyone's thought on this? I wonder if the risk of corona virus is less than the effect on his social development.

My 2yr old doesn't distance she don't understand. We've only seen close relatives and one of her best friends she's not all over them but has hugged and kissed.
I'm not going to make her feel crap because nana won't hug and make her wonder why.

We are seeing my mil with my 18mo. We are both adults and have jointly made the decision that we are both comfortable with the level of risk which we agree to be tiny. I think you should speak to you mum and see how she feels. If you are both happy with the risk level go for it. I think we have reached the point now where as long as the people you are in contact with are happy with the risk you just need to make grown up decisions. Children are suffering hugely because of this and seem to be at the bottom of the pile for the government.
