Anyone seen today’s R estimate for Scotland? I thought they were meant to be announced every Thursday but can only see last weeks one

from here -www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-modelling-epidemic-scotland-issue-no-5/

"Up to the 17 June, R in Scotland was estimated to be between 0.6 & 0.8. "

sparkle17 · 18/06/2020 16:44

The lower the number of cases there is the R number is not as relevant. The 7 day average for new cases is 21. I think Nicola Sturgeon is going for a policy of wanting to eliminate Covid

Crimples · 18/06/2020 17:31

Thanks @PatriciaHolm, same as last week then
Yes, @sparkle17 I had heard the lower the numbers go the less important/relevant it becomes, I was just curious as I hadn’t seen it in amongst all the other stuff from today’s announcement

I'm not in Scotland, but have family there. I keep an eye on their numbers and it has seemed to me be a hard sell for the Scottish government to tell everyone to stay home and put their lives and businesses on hold because of a disease that is affecting so few people.
Hard enough in England tbh.

frasersmummy · 18/06/2020 17:58

I think Nicola sturgeon is on a mission to eradicate the virus.. But at what price to mental health and the economy

14 weeks with no real end in sight.. Its depressing

runrunrunrunt · 18/06/2020 18:26

Surely if we eradicate it we can get back to a more realistic normal more quickly.

Our measures aren't that much stricter than England's are they? Am I missing something?

Frasersmummy

It’s just so depressing Nicola is not looking at the big picture, when employment is sky high & people are losing there homes, and there mental heath is a rock bottom, what going to happen then!! Never mind that the kids don’t look like they will be getting a fall week at school next tear.

Mightymurphy · 18/06/2020 20:23

I am so disappointed with progress today here in Scotland. I think most people are giving up and beyond offices and work places being open, people are just going to get on with life. I saw some of it yesterday when out for a walk.

She’s given very little today and 3 weeks is a really long time to wait for progress.

IKEA888 · 18/06/2020 20:26

cases in my region have increased massively this week.
We ha so new cases for 2+ weeks. previous to that one or so a day for weeks.
Now a big increase

Mightymurphy · 18/06/2020 20:27

Where are you?

Crimples · 19/06/2020 08:56

Yeah @IKEA888 where is that (roughly) I haven’t noticed any massive case increases?

Agree @Mightymurphy

People are doing their own thing

Rates are so low in Scotland

20 odd new cases a day or less

Millions of people stuck in limbo for low rates like this makes no sense
