Play parks

Noticed a lot of children using this week when I've been out for work. Are the rules lifted round this? I'd love to take my child to park tomorrow. He's been back at nursery and we're just ready to get back to some normality.

I don't think so although you wouldn't know it to look at my local park.

The parents constantly rip the caution tape off, untie the swings (secured with cable ties) and just let their kids play.

Yess! So many of them have been busy. I'm out in the community a lot for work and this seems to be the case at multiple parks. We usually scoot round on his bike, I've told him parks closed because of the virus and he's adapted to this very well. I just know if he's sees kids though I don't know how I can explain they can go on but he can't 🤷🏾‍♀️

I know a lot are locked but otherwise I'd go for it.

I was wondering if there had been any announcements on parks. We walk past 2 most days and neither have had people in yet. I don't know if the gates are actually locked, but the fences aren't very high, I'm surprised people haven't just put their kids over fence.

Dd is desperate to go in!

I wondered the same. A few times the past few days children from my street have been using ours. Just a few at a time.

I was thinking not too much of an issue when from same family or just 2-4. But did wonder if it became a free for it would increase risk?

MrsWombat · 17/06/2020 07:04

It was mentioned in the briefing a couple of weeks ago that they would not open in the immediate future.

SnuggyBuggy · 17/06/2020 07:12

The government don't appear to give much of a shit about children and young people

Aria20 · 17/06/2020 07:20

Yesterday while we were in field behind our local playground someone from the council came and unlocked the gate so my 11yo ran over and asked if he could go in now and the man said not yet he was just doing some checks and prob in a couple of weeks. Obviously that was just his guess though but hopefully they'll open in July.
I haven't seen anyone sneaking in either so my area must be very rule abiding....

Snailsetssail · 17/06/2020 07:26

There is no-one on the parks here yet. We went to a country park with a large play park yesterday and it was so sat to see all the children sat on the picnic area around the edge looking at the closed gates.

@Hilenistarted a petition to reopen playgrounds.

Please sign it here if you agree:

Seeing as our PM isn't prepared to admit how many kids he has and his chief advisor apparently couldn't care for one child while ill then I'm not surprised they're not interested in playgrounds.
