Need to see my adult child in a ward in the hospital. Not seen her since March this is causing me huge distress and I am under the crisis team.. Anyone know when hospital visiting allowed or if I can demand to be let in?. This is killing me. Skyping makes things worse and causes distress to my daughter. She contracted COVID on the ward and is now testing negative. Anyone in the NHS to help me?

Can't you ring the hospital and ask them? Are you speaking regularly to your dd, or just contacting her by Skype?

Ring the ward and ask. Explain your difficulties.

I have and they just keep saying no because of Covid, no visitors allowed. I don't know when I will be able to see her again. This is beginning to feel like cruelty now.

Hi,I didn't want to read and run,what a horrible situation for you and your daughter. I have a friend whose mum is in hospital after falling and having an op on her hip. He found this last week about visiting- I believe it says that the nationwide visiting hours that meant a ban on all visitors has now been lifted and it is down to the trusts to decide how to deal with visitors. If I were you,I'd try to find an agency or charity who can advocate for you needing to see your daughter for both your and her mental health. It can't be good that she's not seen you since March and gets distressed seeing you on a Skype call. I hope you get things sorted x

No problem,I hope it helps x Please do look into getting someone/charity to advocate for you though. I find people tend to listen if you have someone more official backing you up

yes, thanks Millie, I have spoken to them. I quoted what Ladylay234 said and they explained they are going to have a meeting on Thursday to see if I can go in. They have some highly vulnerable patients on the ward and I thin that is where the worry is at. but my daughter has her own room and of course I would be scrpulous with hygeine etc but they sounnded very twitchy at the idea. So I guess I will just have yo wait it out again this week .

Have you been in touch with the hospital before now? You should be able to get daily updates if you want them. Or at least weekly. Does your daughter have anyone else visiting? Husband or partner,?

Just Skyped her. wow, it's upsetting, She is frightened and so am.I. Still no words when visiting is allowed as 'it's under review' so waiting. Still no visitors of any description only Skype allowed. feeling exhausted.
