School Reading Project

I know there has been a lot of negativity around schools recently so I wanted to post something positive.

I think my DD's primary school has been fantastic since lockdown. Today we have been sent a message about a new reading project which sounds really good. There is a book allocated for each year group. Each DC will be given a book and then there will be activities for them to do based on the book.

What is even better is they are taking the opportunity for the DC to be able to have a short catch-up with their teacher! My DD will be so happy about that I could almost cry! They will also be giving out more stationery (they were given some when school first closed) which ensures no DC will miss out due to lack of paper and pencil.

I think this will give my DD such a boost emotionally seeing her teacher but also educationally she will enjoy a new book to read and interesting linked activities - something different and new to challenge her.

Hi, that's lovely, I think it is great that a lot of schools are starting to adjust to the new way of teaching and coming up with creative solutions. I really hope "someone" centrally is capturing these good ideas and sharing them round the teaching profession.

We have also been promised a short phone call from my daughter's class teacher some time in the next few weeks. She is quite excited to actually be able to talk to her beloved Miss A - although I expect she will be shy on the phone (wish, wish, wish they could do something with video but there it is, they won't do it).

@Hathorx - I think my DD will be a bit shy having not seen her teacher for ages and unfortunately there will not be enough time for her to 'come out of her shell'. But still she will enjoy it.
