Why are they not allowing them to re-open? Yet Ikea, Primark and other retail outlets are allowed to open this month. Then possibly pubs next month?!
Zoos are large, open spaces with plenty of room for social distancing.
Apparently there’s also an issue with safari parks. I don’t understand that either as you can stay within your car.
When it comes to zoos, surely having arrows on the floor so people only walk one way, limiting numbers in and especially indoor enclosures. Lots of sanitation areas. I really don’t understand the problem...am I being stupid? Have I missed something? I just heard some animals may be destroyed if they can’t open due to being unable to afford to feed them and keep them Sad

I wondered this too OP.

We have Chester Zoo and Knowsley Safari Park near us, you don’t even need to get out of your car for the safari park so hats the issue? Zoo - just make it ticketed limited numbers.

I did wonder if it was to do with Boris wanting people spending on consumables again (Ikea etc) , but the ticket price still goes towards animal feed/peoples jobs etc so I don’t understand how they weren’t allowed to open sooner —but bloody garden centres full of high risk people being offered scones and tea are—

Sooo annoying

That article I linked above says potential opening on the 15th of June.

Spirallingleaves · 09/06/2020 22:49

BBC is saying June 15th.

Cynic in me says it's media management - holding back on the imminent announcement so that Johnson has some good news to announce.

PatriciaHolm · 09/06/2020 22:57
