I know everyone wants a break, but I really feel this year staying in the UK makes far more sense.
We should get a nice warm summer, the virus risk and insurance worries about getting home if something happens make staying local a better idea, and the money we could put back into our own economy.

@Miljea - we go every year however i dont drive :) we go to Istria so through Slovenia.
we do it over two days with a stay in Germany usually just as we are about to enter austria.
there is about 1400 miles from london to where we go and if we both drove it would take a lot less but we make a trip out of it :) and find little
places to explore on our stops.
we had plans of doing more stopping this year and have a proper euro trip but wont push our luck.
we visit families in 3 countries that border each other so quite a few trips anyway.

A lot of what I love about holidays is the anticipation and looking forward to them, but this year I think I'd just be stressed if I was flying somewhere (what if there's a second wave? if I get sick? if I get contacted on the track and trace app and told to isolate the day before I'm due to go? if the destination place has an outbreak?)

So I'm going to holiday here this year (which is Switzerland, not the UK). The big exception for me would be if Ireland lift the 14 day quarantine - as I would love to visit my family but the current quarantine makes that very difficult. But that would not be a holiday in the sea/sun/sand sense!

I have a uk break booked for Aug - booked in Jan before all this started. Not sure if we'll even get to go ... all it takes are cases to go up and restrictions will be tightened. I am fed up of potentially losing money about this ...
