Cervical screening

I know this has been discussed in the past, but is there any update on when cervical screening might be up and running again?
I was not up-to-date with my screens before lock down having left it far too late, and now I really want to go and get tested as have noticed some changes in myself and feeling anxious about it.
Are there other options available, eg, can it be done privately?

Hi yogz, no idea when the programme will be up and running normally again, try calling your GP for an update in your area.

For private try this:

Thank you.
Unfortunately, my local Nuffield does not offer the test. I will see if any other private hospitals do.

If you have changes you should book an appointment with your GP or practice nurse. It's not routine screening if you have concerns. GPs are still offering appointments where necessary. Please go and get it checked and put your mind at ease.

Hi OP - please ring your GP and book an appointment!

Just because routine smears aren't going ahead, it doesn't mean they won't see you if you're concerned :)

Windyatthebeach · 09/06/2020 14:06

My routine smear is today!!

yogz1976 · 09/06/2020 14:07

Thanks all. I will contact the GP (if I can get through)....

Definitely speak to your GP, my surgery has just restarted routine smears too

AnnaSW1 · 09/06/2020 15:33

Must be individual surgeries etc. My dad had a routine smear a month ago after a couple of letters asking her to book an appointment
