Would you self isolate and test?

Been feeling rotten all day . Shivery and very, very dizzy and tired . Vertigo when walking . I’ve also got pain/difficulty peeing, and diarrhoea for three days . I get recurrent UTIs so am wondering if that might be the issue .

Checked temperature - 37.2 oral, we don’t have a decent in ear one .

I’m guessing it’s not covid, I live in rural Scotland, I’ve had contact face to face with only two people since 13th March although have been out for walks .

No cough or chest symptoms, just horrendously dizzy and exhausted .

Would you self isolate just in case?

I’d get tested for UTI, you don’t want a kidney infection

I wouldn’t self isolate for CV but I would stay at home until you’re feeling better. Maybe ring your doctor and ask for an appointment (face to face or by phone) to discuss your symptoms and get some medication.

Not for Covid no, but I'd hope you get some help from the GP if you think it may be a kidney infection.

No I’d buy cranberry juice and phone the GP for a prescription for antibiotics for the UTI you clearly have.

She needs to isolate because she’s got a temperature. It doesn’t sound like covid. The isolation period is technically 7 days for the op and 14 days for the rest of the household (unless they develop symptoms and the its 7 days from when they start).

Why, you no have symptoms of CV, a temperature doesn't mean anything, tbh I think you are over-reacting, there were fewer than 20 new cases in Scotland reported today, how would you have caught it?

A temperature IS a symptom of covid.
One of the three key ones that mean if you get any one of them, you need to self isolate.

Current advice is. If you have symptoms then you need to book a test and isolate till you get results. You think you have a uti you probably do so in the morning contact Dr for antibiotics they will issue them without having to see them.

I would contact your GP for advice-it sounds like a UTI.

You should certainly phone a dr with those symptoms.

I’ve rung 111 just for advice as having increasing difficulty peeing - they’re treating as ?covid or UTI . Did say doctor would ring to try decide between the two, but said self isolate just now until proven UTI .

I don’t know how I’d have caught it, I highly doubt I have tbh . Not been near shops, chemist, anything for months and months . Been to my nan’s garden but she has equally self isolated since March .

Test being sent out, dr said highly doubt it’s covid (‘almost impossible; hardly anyone has it here’) but said per protocol test and stay in until test comes back . Also to get antibiotics first thing . Weirdly Gp suggested I could take a taxi tonight and get meds at out of hours centre ... didn’t think that was a good idea at all but suppose that shows how much they think it’s not covid .

Why is this so difficult for people to understand. If you have a temperature, a new persistent cough or lack of smell or taste you need to isolate.

However in this case she needed to get it sorted by contacting GP. There are a lot more things out there than Covid, it has not put all other ailments on hold. People are missing appointment that they need, we need to be careful but we need to use common sense. We don’t need more people in hospital; with easy to cure illnesses that have turned serious due to isolating and not getting help until too late.

You’ll need to SI because of the temperature but hopefully a test will confirm it’s not that, it does sound more like a UTI.

I think so yeah . Never thought I’d be relieved to just have a UTI before ... Waiting on someone delivering antibiotics soon . Been in bed since half 10 last night . No sign of corona test yet so assume that’ll turn up tomorrow .
