14 day quarantine question

Hi everyone,

so I'm due at the end of July. My mother lives abroad in another European country and wants to come over to help us with the baby. She's willing to do the 14 days quarantine at our address.

My question is ( which hasn't been answered by the government I think), do the other people at the address ( so my partner and myself) also need to quarantine for 14 days then?

Yes you will all need to be isolated for 14 days.

I’d like to know that as well. My DH travels a lot for work and will need to travel as soon as borders open (it’s the Middle East he goes to). He’s ok with having to quarantine for 14 days as he can just work from home but I need to go to work.

Seriously? So either he loses his job cause he can’t travel or I lose my job cause I have to stay at home.
And before anyone asks, he can’t do what he needs to do over there over the phone.

"The people you’re staying with do not need to self-isolate, unless they travelled with you or you develop the symptoms of coronavirus."

(although to be fair it also says avoid contact with them. That's clearly not going to happen is it!)

You are welcome. Also, I suspect the chances of quarantine still being an issue at that point are very small!

I was trying to find this out the other day too for my dm visiting . Thanks to The poster who put up that link I couldn’t find it !!

What I don’t understand is how this works alongside the law that has passed about Not being able to have people in your home who are not members of your household ?

I suspect because the quarantine rules say you are supposed to keep well away from anyone else, use a separate bathroom, etc. You are not supposed to mix. No-one who wants to make a social visit is going to not mix!

Ah yeh that’s true ! It just worries me how much of a grey area it could be ,In terms of how much detail they’d require and whether border control could send her back . my dm would have her own room but we really don’t have the space For her to truly self isolate Tbh . We are hoping to Wait untill later in the year anyway but god knows how long these restrictions will go on for .

And yes I agree ! The time for this was probably in March time not now !
