Some good news

Thought I'd share some positive news.
I've known 3 people who have had covid severely lately. One was hospitalised. All 3 were vulnerable. 1 male was very obese with diabetes and asthma. He stayed at home convinced he would die there. Sheilding from his family who lived in the same house. 1 has so much going on with her immune system and is on oxygen before covid and ended up in hospital. Ine is in her 80s and survived lung cancer last year. She caught it from a carer as they were the only ones allowed in her home.

And you guessed it all 3 survived.

Anyone else got positive stories?

OP thanks for sharing. Great news! I only know of 1 confirmed hospital case which is a guy in his 50s who is overweight and is now fully recovered.

Someone recovery from a serious operation for a life threatening condition. Was incredibly unwell for 8 weeks, also BAME, and now on the mend!!!

I know a lot of people who have had it and survived ( Nurses). However it is taking them ages to properly recover, weeks and weeks of severe fatigue. I also know of one previously well Nurse who is now on home Oxygen and no one can give her any idea of whether her lung function may improve in the near future. It's not just the fact that people have survived this illness ( which is great) but what quality of life will people have going forward. I guess we just won't know yet what long term damage it has caused. Also how many covid victims are stuck in a kind of limbo like Kate Garraway's husband with so much damage to their bodies that no-one knows how long it will take to make a full recovery or if it will happen. I read somewhere today that Boris Johnson is so fatigued he takes 3 hours naps each day ??

I only know of one person who was positive for the virus. He is an overweight male around 40-50 I think, he was in hospital for 2 days on oxygen but fully recovered. He works in a pub, and I don’t think anyone else caught it, and if they did they didn’t have symptoms! He lives with family and they were all fine, too! He had it right at the beginning of the lockdown.

DH and I had it, along with our five month old.

For me it was pretty mild, for a few nights I was sweating like crazy in bed and feeling a bit rough, and I lost my sense of smell and taste, but that’s it. No coughing despite asthma.

DH was hit harder, felt shocking for a week, felt like he wasn’t using his full lung capacity, delirious at night sometimes. But recovered completely within a fortnight. Neither of us have any lasting symptoms.

DS had a little cough and a temperature for a week and is totally fine.

If it wasn’t for knowing it was covid I’d have said DS and I just got a mild random virus/bug. DH had a rough time but having had flu before it wasn’t a patch on that!
