Getting DD to her dads...

So DD hasn't seen her dad since beginning of March due to lockdown. He doesn't live locally, in fact - in another country
We are in Wales, he is in London.
DD really wants to see him, he really wants to see her - she is year 11 so has no school to return to anytime soon and as the lockdown in Wales is stricter than in England she literally hasn't left the house except for an occasional dog walk.
So how would I go about getting her there? I know the rules allow for transporting kids between parents houses but does this still apply when it's in different countries? I've looked on the gov website but can't see anything specifying between countries.
She could get the train solo as she has done many times BUT I'm a little concerned she would be questioned by train guards etc and she's quite shy. So is my only option to drive her ?

I've done long distance drives to transfer my kids but not cross the border. Can you ring your local police station and ask what their take on it is? If she does go by train it needs to be on a prebooked ticket.

This guidance from Dyfed-Powys police indicates that it's allowed to transport children under 18 between parents. As it's also allowed in England, I don't see that crossing the border would give rise to any legal issue. But driving would be safer from the point of view of avoiding Covid. Does your DD's Dad also drive? Could you arrange a half way handover point in order to share the driving?

Thanks Huge I've just submitted a Q online to the police station as there was no answer when I called. Apparently they will get back to me in 48hrs

That was my thinking lily surely it would be okay. I would prefer to drive her due to Covid issues on public transport but also to stop any confrontation she may end up having (this would prob not happen at all but I'm a worrier)
Unfortunately ex doesn't have a car at the mo so it'd be me doing the full drive

Could Dad hire or borrow a car to come and pick her up?

Get your ex to hire a car to meet you half way and do the some one the way home.
