My son had his rescheduled to 25 June, it was originally booked for 6 April - do you think this is still likely to go ahead. I haven't seen any announcements or guidelines on this subject yet?

My partner had his rescheduled once and was supposed to have one again this morning which has been rescheduled for a month's time.

DD's was booked for the 2nd April and has been rescheduled to the 27th July. When she last spoke to her instructor he hadn't heard anything regard when he could restart lessons.

My dd’s was cancelled for May, rearranged for August. There must surely be some priority for them to be up and running soon, to avoid public transport use.

Bumping thread

Currently practical tests are only available to those with tests cancelled during lockdown - fair enough.

Among the wider community of mumsnetters, is there anyone who knows someone 'in the know' (perhaps at the DVLA etc) who can give a hint re when there are plans afoot to make practical tests available to all?

We are signed up to emails for news but not knowing how long it is going to be is a pain. Dd passed her theory test yesterday and now it all seems rather anticlimatic

LimitIsUp · 19/08/2020 16:06

anticlimactic not anticlimatic (nothing to do with Extinction Rebellion Blush )

nex18 · 19/08/2020 16:07

Not in the know at all but commented earlier about dd’s test so if you can guess at all from her experience... August date was also cancelled despite tests having started by then. She had to wait for an email saying she could rebook. That arrived about 10 days ago but there were no actual tests available to book when she tried. She managed to book yesterday, 2 dates in October were available. I hope she flipping passes!

My dad is a driving instructor. He started doing lessons a few weeks back and took someone on their test last weej

TheHobbitMum · 19/08/2020 16:33

My son had a yest booked for 2wks after Lockdown and he passed his test last week. There was plenty of tests to book at our local centre, so some areas must be clear of backlog now

LimitIsUp · 19/08/2020 16:46

Oh crikey nex18

Well done to your son TheHobbitMum

Frlrlrubert · 19/08/2020 17:05

I was definitely behind a proper brand new learner the other day, so the instructors are back at work where I am (West Mids).

LimitIsUp · 19/08/2020 17:06

Yes the instructors are back - it's just the practical tests aren't Sad(unless you had a test cancelled during lockdown)

Hotpinkangel19 · 19/08/2020 17:08

I passed today after 2 Covid related cancellations- the examiners are doing less tests per day so less tests available

LimitIsUp · 19/08/2020 17:10

Congratulations 🥳

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 20/08/2020 09:13

LimitIsUp · 20/08/2020 12:12

Its frustrating waiting isn't it Rufus

Hopefully they will catch up on the test cancellations soon and open up the bookings to all

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 20/08/2020 16:00

Fingers crossed

Ds2 is checking the website every few days and there isn’t a rush

I’d just like it booked 😀
