I feel absolutely gutted

I’ve just found out that my local village has had to shut its little independent tearoom/cafe because it could no longer afford to run it and with all the unknowns regarding the hospitality industry they have had to close for good, they’ve been emptying it out today.
I went there regularly and I’m really sad. All the staff have lost their jobs.
How much more do we have to lose?!

That’s really sad, it’s just awful. Our favourite Greek restaurant in town is closing down for good, they can’t afford to reopen again and I get the feeling it’s just the start. It all seems so very unfair doesn’t it..

Sadly, it sounds like an unfortunate casualty of the virus. We can't save every business. Hopefully, when the pandemic is over, someone else will come along and run a new cafe.

I really hate change and I feel desperately sad for these people.

I’m worried about many local businesses here too. I’m in a small tourist place in lakes.
Was also shocked to hear the famous Windermere hotel has gone bust, the one most people see as they come in at the train station.
Many small businesses are bound to never recover.
Have a feeling summer, if luck permits, will rejuvenate a lot, but for many it will be too late ☹️

We live in a market town with lots of independent cafes, tea rooms, coffee shops and restaurants. The neighbouring towns are similar.

Tip of the iceberg I am afraid,absolutely terrible,so sad

From a selfish perspective one of the things I'm feeling really negative about is even when we go back to normal how many of the little places we used to frequent won't exist anymore.
