They are open in California now. There must be a way.

@BamboozledandBefuddled

Hope its soon and they hopefully won't be busy given numbers of hysterical people hiding at home

I know a couple round here are going to be advance booking only. In spite of people on here I suspect it's going to be worse than booking supermarket delivery slots Grin

Bang goes my theoryGrin

I think I would go, mainly because I want to support the local businesses after they have been so disrupted. But if the reduced capacity means they are overwhelmed with demand anyway, I will probably wait a bit. I live in an area with lots of restaurants that are usually packed every night, so thinking about it I don't think they will be lacking customers. My worry for them is whether they will be able to cover their costs without being able to fill the premises due to distancing requirements.

I am bracing myself for higher prices, but having not eaten out since February they can charge me what they want and I will pay!

We can’t afford to eat out so it doesn’t really matter to me but if and when we can start eating in a restaurant I’m hoping that means we can see our families inside

Well the government date is still 4th July for lots of the leisure and hospitality industry. Even if it ends up being a bit later I would still say it will be in July at some point. The government will want to give as many businesses as possible the chance to open up and try and make some money before the furlough scheme starts tailing off.

We love eating out. I didn’t even realise how much we ate out until we couldn’t any more. We still get a takeaway once or twice a week but nothing beats a good sit down meal in a restaurant. We will definitely be going back as soon as they open. I don’t think that’s stupid at all. We’ve never had many cases where I live and we are all low risk so why wouldn’t we? ( this is assuming dh keeps his leisure industry job that is, or we won’t be eating out for some time Sad)

Hopefully early July, this morning (fairly dull and on the cool side) St Ives was like a ghost town and it felt strange seeing all the closed restaurants.

"If there are reasonable measures in place then why wouldn't you?"
It depends on what you mean by reasonable measures. There have been diagrams showing how coughs and sneezes travel up and over into the next aisles in supermarkets so what measures would prevent that happening with someone coughing in a restaurant?

I can (and do) wear a mask in the supermarket. You cant do that and eat. I consider it much riskier than shopping in a supermarket and have no plans to rush back to eating out. I've also got out of the habit of it now and am aware of how much money I have been spending eating and drinking out and am enjoying saving the money instead. I don't miss it at all.

I'd love to but I cant see how it's going to be possible to socialise at places like restaurants with people out with your household. So I cant imagine I'll be going anytime soon unfortunately
