Grandparent toddler childcare

If you usually rely on grandparent toddler childcare, given that toddlers can’t social distance what are you doing now? Or what are you planning to do? Doesn’t seem like touch is going to be allowed until the very very end.

My DGS goes to his other DGM. It’s either that, or he goes to a childminder, because DIL is a key worker. They have chosen the lowest risk option, as DIL’s mum sees no-one else and is not in an at risk group.

I’m furloughed at the minute but due back early July. MIL usually has DD 1 day a week and will continue to do so. She is way under 60 and has no health concerns. I don’t have any other option as neither me or DH are able to WFH.

My mum is minding my kids for a couple of hours a day now. She is furloughed and I have been wfh since the end of March.

Sorry I mean will continue to do so from when I go back to work, she hasn’t been having her whilst I’ve been furloughed and has only seen her twice from a distance since lockdown began.

I've had to take unpaid leave until they say family can meet in households.

My mum looks after my daughter while I'm at work and I can't afford to pay for childcare so not much i can do.

LST · 01/06/2020 16:46

@Barry but you could hire a nanny to look after her in your home if you wanted. So if both you and your mum are up for it.. pay her a tenner a week 🤷🏼‍♀️ No where in the guidelines does it say the nanny can't be related or how much you have to pay them

BarrytheFatcat · 01/06/2020 19:27

@LST now there's an idea!

The whole things a farce anyway

KellyHall · 01/06/2020 19:29

@LST That's brilliant!

I read somewhere about a guy wanting to put his house on the market so his relatives could come for "viewings"!

A grandparent has had my child for 2 days a week since schools finished in March so throughout the whole of lockdown.
