Is your primary school offering full hours or part time hours upon YR return?

Today our local primary isn’t opening to YR&1, just YR6. They haven’t yet confirmed what sessions they will be offering either and a definite date for the younger years. What are other schools doing? Any wrap around care? I’m hoping to see if there’s a pattern (our school said they won’t confirm until Thurs/Fri). Thanks

Ours is an infant school and is offering full time places to reception and Yr1 (said they feel this is safer than part time) but they decided on Friday to delay the opening to 25th. Our school doesn't have wrap around but the associated school club is opening as normal.

BettyOBarley · 01/06/2020 09:55

Sorry typo, that should have said 15th.

Letseatgrandma · 01/06/2020 09:57

We are only opening to Year 1 from the 15th and they’re doing 4 days a week. Staggered start and finishes and no wrap around care.

MustBeDueSomeBetterFeet · 01/06/2020 09:59

Full-time from tomorrow, but slightly shorter day to account for staggered drop off/pick up times across the three year groups, and no wraparound care anymore.

Duckfinger · 01/06/2020 10:01

The school I work in is offering 4 and 1/2 days no wraparound care.
My children's school is offering 4 days but 5 to keyworkers no wraparound care - however if you need the fifth day as a keyworker your child doesn't return to their year group and stays in keyworker bubble at all times.

Crosswordocelot · 01/06/2020 10:03

the school my kids are at (although they are not in years where they will return) is doing 15 out of a class in Monday/tuesday , school closed for cleaning on wed, other 15 from the class on thursday/friday so wouldn't work if you needed school as childcare to enable you to go to work. (not a criticism of the school, just an observation)
As far as I know the breakfast club and afterschool club are not running

Greysparkles · 01/06/2020 10:06

Ours have opened today with full time hours for all the year groups going back, except reception who have a slightly reduced day to stagger drop off ect

SellFridges · 01/06/2020 10:06

4.5 days at our school for YR, 1 and 6. Key worker kids only in wrap around care.

Chienloup · 01/06/2020 10:06

We are doing four days a week, but no before school or after school provision.

Duckfinger · 01/06/2020 10:06

Oh yes, part time doesn't work for childcare at all. If that is the objective of the return it totally fails even just not having wraparound means it is useless as child care.
Which weirdly means the government must actually think this strange 'school but not how they know it' is what is best for children.

PeskyRooks · 01/06/2020 10:08

Our year R 1 & 6 aren't going back until week beginning 8th June.
Surnames A-M Mon & Tues
Deep clean Wed
Surnames M-Z Thurs & Fri

Short days I think and staggered drop off and pick ups but not been told the times yet.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 01/06/2020 10:09

Full time (well 4.5 days) available to all YrR,Yr1 and Yr6 pupils, plus Keyworkers.

Travispickings · 01/06/2020 10:09

my kids are not going back but the year groups that go are going back 4 days a week. no wrap around childcare.

Uhoh2020 · 01/06/2020 10:10

9.30-2.30 mon-thur

NotGenerationAlpha · 01/06/2020 10:11

No wrap around care and only key workers.

MilaRos · 01/06/2020 10:12

Open for R, Yr1 & Yr6. Staggered drop offs and picks up. So slightly shorter days for my DS in R. He's in Monday-Thursday. But school open Monday - Friday for key worker children only. No wrap around care.

Dougalthesyrianhamster · 01/06/2020 10:12

2 days a week! 🙄

NotGenerationAlpha · 01/06/2020 10:14

Not only there is no wrap around care, there's a letter sent that they can only be in one childcare settings. The school has onsite breakfast and after school clubs, and also links to other local private ones. They will no longer be allowed to do pick up and drop off. I assume they can't stop nannies and childminders however as they have no special arrangements with the school.

Mumof4under10 · 01/06/2020 10:15

2 days a week here for preschool, reception and year1 and they are shorter days aswell to account for staggered drop off and pick ups. Nothing been said yet about other year groups returning.

RAINSh0wers · 01/06/2020 10:17

2 days a week here too, and a slightly shorter day to allow for staggered pick up/drop off. No wraparound care on offer.

starrynight19 · 01/06/2020 10:19

4 days offered with staggered drop off and collection times for nursery / r / y1 / y6 no wrap around care.
Full time for keyworker and vulnerable but they will not be able to go with their year group unless they can do the four days and alternative start / collection times. Otherwise they stay in this group.

SunbathingDragon · 01/06/2020 10:20

Slightly shorter days Monday to Thursday but only to allow for a staggered drop off and pick up. Half day on Friday (finish after lunch). No wrap round care or any clubs at all.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 01/06/2020 10:22

Our school is doing one week on, one week off Monday-Thursday. Wrap around club not open.

superoz · 01/06/2020 10:22

Year 6 start today, year 1 start on 8th and Reception on 15th. Class size kept to only 10, 1 group will attend Mon/Tues and another on Thurs/Fri, Wednesday is for deep cleaning. No wrap around care.

Duckfinger · 01/06/2020 10:23

Its going to be impossible for working parents, I'm holding out for full time for all by September or I'm going to have to give up work. We have both already cut our hours to manage while ours are in keyworker groups.
