Anxious about Covid 19 test...

I've got a Covid test on Monday morning as I've got an operation scheduled for Wednesday. I'm not good at all with things like this, I have a phobia of hospitals, so for me to have to have an op during a pandemic is a massive deal.

I want to prepare myself for the test, so can people tell me of their experiences please? I am in the UK.

I had one last week at work. It's very simple. Swab down your throat for 10 seconds then same swab up your nose for 10 seconds. Not painful at all.although the throat thing mad me gag a bit.

We only have the throat swabs here in Wales but to help someone, the nurse counted back 3,2,1 and then It was complete. Most of us did gag but it really is over quick for that part. Totally worth it if the operation is going to help you feel a lot better. Good luck with the test and op 😁

I done my own last week, I think it will be even easier to have someone do it for you as they seem to be quicker, you have to swab your tonsils for 15 seconds for the home test and 10 seconds up the nostril.

It's quick and easy. The nose bit made my eyes water for a couple of seconds but that was it.

If done properly, it is rather uncomfortable, however only very briefly. Try and take comfort knowing everyone will be tested, this means the hospital environment will be a safer place for you too. Good luck

Had it all done, wasn't too bad, the throat bit made me gagg and she gave me a sick bowl 😂 the nose bit was uncomfortable but it was fine. Now for the op on Wednesday...
