Soft play?

PeppaisaBitch · 30/05/2020 16:40

My local soft play is putting up loads of fb posts at the moment. Lots of comments 'can't wait to go back'. I'm just wondering when they will be able to open up? Feel that it probably won't be safe for quite some time. Really feel for the staff who must be so up in the air at the moment.

Softplay areas are germ filled places at any "normal" time. .

Not in a hells chance would i be going !

Playdonut · 30/05/2020 16:42

Where do you live??? I'll be first in the queue to go to soft play!

UltraTurtle · 30/05/2020 16:43

Yeah, I just can't see how it can be considered safe at all. Indoors. No chance of social distancing. Deep cleaning every day. They're festering germ pits at the best of times Grin I think that will be one of the very last things allowed.

HereComesSimon · 30/05/2020 16:43

I was thinking about soft play centers the other day. To be honest I don't know how it would be possible to re open safely. I doubt my local one will ever re open.

effingterrified · 30/05/2020 16:45

Wouldn't imagine soft play would be safe for a very, very long time.

How on earth would it be possible to disinfect or socially distance? Confused

blackcat86 · 30/05/2020 16:46

Not a fucking hope would I be going for a long while. My toddler picked up rotavirus on our last trip (she is vaccinated) and was unwell for weeks. They are notorious for being unhygienic so I just wouldnt risk it at the moment especially as I've been shielding

SimonJT · 30/05/2020 16:46

They’re germ pits normally! When I take my son before we leave apart from underwear I change all his clothes, wash his hands and face and make sure he has his hair washed that night.

Softplay is the child equivalent of shagaluf, infection central!

Phillipa12 · 30/05/2020 16:47

My sons 6th birthday party was postponed in March due to covid 19, im expecting it to now be his 7th birthday party as honestly cant see them opening till much later in the year.

2020times · 30/05/2020 16:49

We won't return, I had already stopped in late January as it looked like corona was going to hit.

DS never really liked it so it's no big loss to us and he always got ill (often vomiting bug) after

PeppaisaBitch · 30/05/2020 16:51

I suppose it's two things. 1 them being allowed to open and 2. Being viable because people want to go.

Soft play places are full of germs and all sorts of unpleasant things at the best of times. I can’t see they will be able to reopen until schools are back to normal. After all, how can children have to stay in bubbles of no more than 15 at schools (where they have to regularly wash their hands and the building thoroughly cleaned) but then be able to run around indoors with potentially a huge number of children outside of their bubble.

My children won’t be going to soft play for a long time. Maybe not ever again (considering their ages).

EsmeeMerlin · 30/05/2020 16:56

I can’t see how they would be able to open, you can’t socially distant in a soft play. It’s a shame, we went to a new smaller one in February and it was a good one. My children really enjoyed it. As a new business though I can’t see them surviving the pandemic. I certainly would not take my children again, they are filled with germs at the best of times.

What softplay are you taking your kids too?! I used to take mine around 4 different ones a couple times a week & she wasn’t ill any more than expected..!

I really blooming miss softplay, my daughter asks to go every single day 😩 But I cannot see them opening until we relax social distancing.. we won’t have to be apart forever but it’s not going to be this year I don’t think!

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 30/05/2020 17:11

I miss soft play soooo much- But I imagine as with swimming pools they will be last to open.

Will playgrounds open soon?- that would help!

Hibbetyhob · 30/05/2020 17:11

Urgh I hate soft play at the best of times - my dc have only ever really been for birthday parties. I imagine given the ages of my dc (7 & 6), they may never go again as it is a very difficult place to control infection, clean thoroughly etc.

Starlightstarbright1 · 30/05/2020 17:17

I am a cminder and won’t be taking the children back anytime soon.

StayAlert · 30/05/2020 17:20

My DS is convinced Coronavirus started in a soft play ball pit 😷😂

SpnBaby1967 · 30/05/2020 17:21

My kids all loved soft play, we had a nice semi small one and I csnt9say I ever noticed them getting poorly from it.

They're maybe getting a bit old for it now, so I dont need to worry about going but overall I'd be happy to go back again

thunderthighsohwoe · 30/05/2020 17:25

Judge my parenting all you like, but I am DESPERATE for a couple of hours sitting down at soft play.

In my defence, I’m trying to teach from home with an 18 month old and a massive shared garden that isn’t enclosed, so I get to sit still for approximately 3.5 minutes per day 😂

Buyitinbamboo · 30/05/2020 17:26

Hopefully long enough that my 6 month old will have outgrown them!

I'd loveparks to open but I was talking to a member from the council about it last week and she said she can't see it happening for a long time. How would they clean it? They would need staff or something.

Barbie222 · 30/05/2020 17:27

No, I am glad of an excuse to sack this off entirely as a family activity. It's in the past forever for me now.

Playdonut · 30/05/2020 17:28

@thunderthighsohwoe no one is judging, you speak for the majority with your pro soft play views! X

Rosehip10 · 30/05/2020 17:30

I imagine many soft play places will go to the wall. I bet their rents are not cheap.
