Could this be Covid? And - HOW?!

I have a persistent cough and a bit of a sore throat. Plus I felt a bit grotty on day 2, and had a bit of a headache.

If this was normal times I wouldn't think anything of it, it's pretty mild.

I have no temperature or shortness of breath.

Does anyone have any idea of how likely this is to be Covid? (I've sent for a test but just wondering).

Also wondering how on earth I could have caught it, whether it's a common cold or covid, we've been really careful and I've hardly left the house except to go for walks!

Could it just be that I'm run down? Can you get cold symptoms from being run down or does it mean I must have caught something infectious in the last couple of weeks?

Your coronavirus test result is negative. You did not have the virus when the test was done.

Phew!

Possibly hay fever then? Or just a cold (although still don't understand how I got it!)

Sorry, should have been clearer, that's what the results letter said.

There was an elderly couple In the next village to me. They had underlying conditions, so shielded a couple of weeks before they got the letter. They both caught it. They hadn’t been out of the house for weeks, or met anyone at all. Their son said the only way they could have caught it is either from the post, or from the food that people had dropped off on their doorstep.

@onalongsabbatical

"OP you could be me! I'm struggling with the same question this morning, mild symptoms - dry cough, can't taste anything"
You need to get tested.

@NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite did the test and had it collected on Tuesday - still waiting for the results - my DH got tested too. Hopefully they'll come today. Still got mild symptoms - with extreme tiredness but that's not wildly unusual for me.

@sabbatical that sounds more like covid, especially with the anosmia and tiredness.

onalongsabbatical · 05/06/2020 09:21

@ferretface I'm kind of hoping it is, because I will have got off really lightly if so. Wish they'd hurry up with the results.

My test was negative as well. My dry cough's gone but still can smell/taste much. Maybe I have hay fever. I've never suffered before.
