Well said @NaturalBornWoman. People refusing to cooperate with T&T will prolong the misery for everyone else. It's not a perfect system- but it would be a huge help if enough people used it.

Has anyone known anyone who has broken the rules and caught COVID as a result? It seems those breaking the rules haven't caught it as a result. Although, I know someone who caught it, sounds like it was just before lockdown started though. Then after the isolation period continued to break the rules.

PissOffStayAtHomeDogMum · 29/05/2020 09:17

I know a fair few people who have broken the rules all along, and none of them has had COVID.

I'm not convinced it's even quite so easy to catch it as is claimed. I've been to supermarkets every day, have never worn a mask, have not used hand sanitiser (have washed my hands when I get home, as I have always done), have handled money, touched my face repeatedly, etc. I have even been known to eat a packet of crisps in the car, i.e. before washing my hands.

While it can obviously be hideous for some people who contract it, it's very much not the case that you will definitely contract it unless you hide away, disinfect your shopping bags, wear plastic gloves, etc, etc, etc.

I would probably do T&T if I had a smartphone. However, I haven't got one (just an ancient desktop), so I can't.

DD and I are very excited (well DD is 15mo and has no clue) as my friend and her little boy are coming round to sit in the garden this morning. It's the first child DD has been near in more than two months so I think she will be very excited Grin

Gwenhwyfar · 29/05/2020 11:37

"Has anyone known anyone who has broken the rules and caught COVID as a result? It seems those breaking the rules haven't caught it as a result. "

It would be difficult to prove they didn't get it at the supermarket wouldn't it? And they could be asymptomatic carriers.

StrawberryJam200 · 29/05/2020 11:38

To those saying they know/ are people who've not followed the guidance and haven't caught the virus.....

People can become infected and have no symptoms whatsoever, so don't know they are. This situation still means they can then pass it to others, who may have quite bad symptoms, including ending up on a ventilator or worse.

kateandme · 29/05/2020 11:41

ScarfLadysBag doesnt it change from monday?

Scruffyoak · 29/05/2020 11:44

Will a 15mth understand the 2m rule?

wedding2021 · 29/05/2020 11:57

Yes it changes from Monday not today.

Delatron · 29/05/2020 12:31

I think the guidelines would be followed more if they made it two households can meet. 6 is just a funny number so people will be loose with it..

ky07 · 29/05/2020 12:55

This is great for low income people in town and city centres with no gardens, many of whom have been working throughout lockdown. People are also allowed a nice stroll in the country, but don't travel for it on public transport!! No, just have a lovely walk up you dingy high street instead.

ScarfLadysBag · 29/05/2020 13:18

Sorry I'm in Scotland! Just realised this was the England thread.!

Coffeeandbeans · 29/05/2020 13:19

@Scruffyoak

Will a 15mth understand the 2m rule?
No but the child’s parents will.
SleepingStandingUp · 29/05/2020 14:01

@Scruffyoak

Will a 15mth understand the 2m rule?
Possibly better than some adults in the supermarket queue
Thismummyruns · 29/05/2020 15:47

My neighbours are 1 step ahead of all of us- on one side they've had people round every day this week and different people have stayed over. On the other side they had a late night party on Wednesday and have various visitors from day to day...

Makes a mockery of everything really

NaturalBornWoman · 29/05/2020 16:02

So you have an extraordinarily casual attitude to your health and risk to others and minimal interest in engaging with the measures being implemented to track and trace, only part of which will be smart phone dependent. Bodes well. 🙄

This is a useful graphic from BBC of the new rules as of Monday 1st June

At last! 6 people can meet in a garden!
Divoc2020 · 29/05/2020 16:22

I think I'd appreciate an infographic to show where exactly people are meant to be able to go to the toilet during or after this meet up outdoors (unless of course it's a private garden).

I've just seen a post from our primary school that happens to share a boundary with the local park (where public toilets remain closed). There were posting to ask people NOT to urinate against their fence as the caretaker is having to hose it down and spray with disinfectant every morning before the children of key workers get to school Angry.

redsky75 · 29/05/2020 16:43

Is it the same in England as in Scotland that you can only mix with one household a day? Struggling with this as both my kids want to see friends (at different times) but once one child has picked a friend to play with that day nobody else can be in our garden in the same day!

ManagerMan · 29/05/2020 17:42

There are a lot of people here saying that you cannot go into a house you might want to check yesterday's briefing they have not said that you cannot go inside the house to use the toilet of course you can use the toilet don't be confused by that. What they actually said quite clearly was that of course you can use the toilet but once you have you must ensure that you wash your hands and that you wipe down all surfaces afterwards so with sanitizer of some description or Dettol wipes. They were very clear about that point they cannot stop you using the toilet if you need to go you need to go they've just said that you need to use your common sense and do what they have advised so where you can't go in the rest of the house that's correct but there is nothing stopping you from using toilets at all just for those people who think there is which seems to be quite a few.

Leedsfan247 · 29/05/2020 17:44

People will start this weekend and it will quickly become a free for all, unfortunately the number of cases will rise in 3 weeks and lockdown reinstated. Boris only did it to deflect the negative Dominic Cummings story

user1485851222 · 29/05/2020 17:51

Ok, if family are near, mine aren't. Also not great for people who don't have a garden. Plus most gardens will now have people, noise etc, again not great for those that aren't able to meet up with people. But want to sit in their gardens. Yep I'm cheesed off if you hadn't guessed... sorry. I am pleased for those able to socialise, just having a bad 30 mins....

MsMeNz · 29/05/2020 17:53

I wish it was eight like Scotland as there is 5 in our household and so I'd have to pick which parent can come over as we are sticking to the rules.

MacBlank · 29/05/2020 18:15

Just don't drink if you visit anyone.in Scotland as you're not allowed to use the shitter! You're ok if you visit in England tho! lol

JessieP1991 · 29/05/2020 18:18

I’m sure using the toilet is fine , as long as you are making sure everyone is outside and not in the house and making sure you wipe down everything you touch in the toilet with bleach. My sister lives in north London and I’m pregnant we’ve both been isolating for 10 weeks I’m not going to go all the way to her house and not use the toilet lol 😂 just make sure you wipe everything down.
