What is the test like?

Me, hubby and DS 3 have to have the test and I'm wondering what it involves and what it's like?
I have a feeling DS will not like having it done 🙁 Is it fairly quick?

Hi, it’s fine. The equivalent of a cotton bud to rub on your tonsils and then up your nose, it did make me gag but didn’t hurt at all. I think I’d prepare your son, saying it’s a game and talking about who is going to be the winner, that it will be a funny feeling but be over very quickly.
If you’re going to a testing centre I’d also mention many people will be wearing masks, again make it interesting, let’s see how many we can spot together. Good luck.

I’ve just had a test this morning.
It’s not as bad as I was expecting but it’s not particularly pleasant.
Long swab down the throat rubbing around your tonsil area for 10 seconds, cue much gagging, then same swab up a nostril as far as you can get it for 20 seconds.
I done my own. I think it would have been worse if someone else was doing it.
My youngest is 6 and to be honest I’m not sure if I’d be able to get her to comply
