I have to admit that I’d never heard of him before

Which is a pity, as I think integrity is a good quality in an elected representative.

So I wish him every success

donquixotedelamancha · 26/05/2020 09:59

Well done Doug Ross. At least some Ministers have integrity.

ScarfLadysBag · 26/05/2020 10:10

I doubt many of his local constituents will be impressed by his integrity Grin Douglas Ross looks out for Douglas Ross.

iVampire · 26/05/2020 10:14

That’s encouraging ScarfLadysBag

When rats start leaving sinking shits, then they really in trouble

ssd · 26/05/2020 10:17

Good for him. Sounds like a tory actually thinking of others.

ScarfLadysBag · 26/05/2020 10:21

@iVampire Was that a Freudian slip?! Grin

iVampire · 26/05/2020 10:25

Homage to Jilly (Cooper - I thought at least some MNetters would recognise)

It seemed an apt time to wheel it out!!

ssd · 26/05/2020 10:31

Very apt!!!

JessicaDay · 26/05/2020 10:36

Agree @ScarfLadysBag. As one of his constituents, I have never been struck by his integrity.

His (reduced) majority at the last election was 513. I suspect the emails in his inbox over the last few days have dwarfed that.

He had a very concerted integrated direct mail/local media campaign to pull off that majority too.

derxa · 26/05/2020 10:39

Douglas Ross looks out for Douglas Ross. I suspect that's the case

ScarfLadysBag · 26/05/2020 10:41

Yes, he was probably going to be punted at the next election so it wouldn't surprise me if there's some sort of strategy behind it. He's suddenly made himself much more visible and 'taken a stand'. Which he never bothered to do with much else, from what I can recall of his voting record on Brexit stuff and gay marriage.

It reminds me of The Thick of It, when Dan Miller resigns to take the fall for something he didn't do and everyone is annoyed he got there first as they knew in a year or two he would get his reward Grin

IHateCoronavirus · 26/05/2020 11:45

Good for you Douglas Ross!

JessicaDay · 26/05/2020 11:47

I think he’s trying to leave doors open to both Holyrood and the local council Chambers as he;s been both an MSP and local councillor in the fairly recent past.
