Peston's line of questioning sounded like a typical cross examination set up. I wonder what the gotcha is going to be.

By far the most interesting bit about the story is that IDOX happens to be run by a mate of his and is based locally to Durham, likewise the GSK link to Barnard Castle.

You have to wonder seriously whether he was ill at all, or at least whether he was as ill as he and his wife claims. His wife account had him totally unable to get out of bed for ten days, yet on his own account he was able to get in a car to collect them from hospital in the middle of all that. Unquestionably one of them is lying, maybe both.

He got around rather a lot whilst telling the rest of us to stay home and safe lives/protect the NHS etc etc .... his message.

Interesting how some of his trips coincided with birthdays. So exactly what has he got on Boris then?

Dominic's eyesight problems
yeah I bet he was so dazzled by the thought of all the money he could make out of this

I just can't believe he has neither apologised nor resigned (obviously resigned would be the most appropriate thing to do). The fact Gove is on breakfast TV defending the situation is even more painful. But this is the government of the UK for the next 4.5 years.

Yep, writing to MPs and protesting important, but at the end of the day, we now have an elected dictatorship and it doesn't matter how far Boris Johnson's approval ratings drop, they can do whatever they want.

Maybe I've missed it, but I'm hoping one of the papers does a comparison between Downing St's press statements over the last week vs DomCum's televised explanation.
E.g. 1. DS stated that he travelled to self-isolate. DCum - I left self-isolation to walk in the woods (but that's ok, they belong to Daddy), to drive to and from the hospital (that's ok, I was being a good Daddy), to drive to a beauty spot to test my eyes (!!).
E.g. 2 BJ stated that he travelled to prevent the spread of the virus and save lives. DS states that he repeatedly drove on public roads when ill and his family visited the local hospital potentially spreading the virus.
E.g. 3 DS stated that at no point was his family visited by the police. Durham Police say they visited the address and spoke to DC's family.
I thought DC's explanation smacked of a 'Worthing Pizza Express' level of detail leaving the public focusing on the how far his car can travel without petrol. Not the fact that he blatantly and repeatedly broke the lockdown rules, as well as potentially lied to Downing Street in order to mislead the press.

Please check re Idox. Don't believe they have a base in the Durham area.

Did you know that glaxo smith kline
Is based in Barnard castle?

I'm gobsmacked.

Maybe he went there to collect his backhander?

That does tie up. I'm not entirely sure why he'd have to be there in person though.

Unless he wanted meetings that were unofficial and un recorded.

i am more concerned by the huge numbers of visitors to our beaches.
No social distancing and tons of disrespect to the locals.

@JingleCatJingle

His sister is also a director of the company that made the track and trace app.

That is completely incorrect.
Both of the things you randomly found on social media and chose to present here as fact, are not true.
It's this sort of behaviour that spread lies throughout the last 3+ years and has left us with the lying bunch of __s that are 'in charge' right now.
Please, please fact check before you permeate lies.

It really doesn't matter anymore. The wagons have circled, no resignations, and onwards they all go.

The first reference to Alice Cummings that I read a few weeks ago is that she was his cousin. I now can't find anything to back that up though.

I was jaw dropping a BT when listening to him that I think (if I heard right) that when his wife had coronavirus he ran off home to help but then he said he later returned to work that day. Why is no one else picking up that. That’s an obvious flout of the rules. One member of household gets it then everyone has to stay at home. He seemed to think that was ok.

I'm actually starting to think that neither of them had Covid, they used it as an excuse to go on an Easter holiday to his parents and celebrate his Mum and Wife's birthdays at the same time. The wife's story in the Spectator reeks of fictitious nonsense.

Would be interesting to know if that is an annual event in the Cummings calendar.

I have an idea which is probably rubbish....but it's a what if...
Background: I am outraged at such a blatant breach of lockdown which he was instrumental in setting out and is a real kick in the teeth to those who have stuck to the guidelines through difficult and traumatic circumstances. DH defended him and says he must be v clever and good at his job and we need the best people as advisors.

So....my question is What if Dominic Cummings actually wanted to resign but BJ effectively rejected it, and glossed over it, because he knows it's essentially DC running the show...?

....but if he did resign, could he not be reinstated/demoted anonymously as an advisor to PM (there must be loads of faceless, anonymous civil service "aides" that the public dont know....?)

They are not related at all. You have no verified source. Stop spreading lies. It may not be your lie, but you have a responsibility to fact check before spreading it, otherwise you're no better than them.
