Is Costa open anywhere for takeaways?

or is it just in our town that they are not? A couple of small cafes do take away coffee now, can't see why can't costa do it - even if they have to bring it out to the entrance? Or do they now rely on food too much to make enough profits?

Only our drive thru one is not the one in the high street.

PickUpAPickUpAPenguin · 25/05/2020 20:59

Drive thrus are open here. You can get Costa coffees at machines in supermarkets and petrol stations too.

WhatASadLittleLifeJane · 25/05/2020 20:59

Open in Cambourne, Cambridgeshire.

girlicorne · 25/05/2020 21:03

We are in a small town in the East Midlands, ours is closed as is the one in the next town, not sure about our local city centre though. I am missing it too!

LevoMental · 25/05/2020 21:05

Try the small café, you'll probably find their coffee is far nicer.

The large one at the retail park near me remains closed, but the Greggs next to it is open.

That's a reusable cup

MarginalGain · 25/05/2020 21:17

I don't understand Costa, it's terrible.

I've patronised the hell out of the independents during the Caffe Nero void, but they're back and I am so happy, I know it's wrong but they have such good coffee.

CorianderLord · 25/05/2020 21:37

Because they don't want all of their employees to have to come back and mix with each other, putting them in danger.

ky07 · 25/05/2020 21:57

@MarginalGain well i for one don't understand Caffe Nero, which has the most burnt disgusting tasting coffe I've ever tasted from any shop small or large.

AlandAnna · 25/05/2020 22:34

Costa is open in the hospitals, has been throughout (only highlight of going in 😂)

CatAndHisKit · 25/05/2020 23:42

Yes I know about hospital and drive thru ones, but not an option. No one is supposed to go to hospitals now unless an emergency! Machines aer not the same as they don't do my usual type of coffee. I'm not driving atm either.

Marginal I think they aer good - and I say that as someone who prefers a (very) good indie cafes for a flat white. It depends on the time of coffee with Costa. They are flat white is inferior to indep ones - too big. Latte is good, espresso too.
I mostly order a Cortado - it's like a smaller flat white of the best indep places, not quite as perfect as can be a bit too strong but it' good and velvety with a kick. It does also depends on the barrista. But generally I like hte smoothness and that they have lactose free milk which many don't. And whole milk for stronger drinks.

I think Caffe Nero is ok, imo for the chain ones it's after costa for me, but I can't stand Starbucks - bitter watery slush! I only drink milky types of coffee and Starbucks are theworst at these.

Coriander but I thought if it's take away only, they would only needa couple of people at a smallish branch - no tables or floor to clean, just make coffee, no food either.

LevoMental I've tried it today - it's drinkable but not great by any stretch- the thing is the only cafe doing it is not an artisan coffee place, they do good 'home mae' style food/muffins (not expensive) whe nopen properly but coffees are very average.

In our town there are two artisan type places, both nowhere near opening, it seems - but I'm hoping. We have several costas though, maybe one will do smth in June.

Check their website. We could be here all day naming our locals. The website has a list which will be easier.

CatAndHisKit · 25/05/2020 23:48

*type of coffee (re Marginal) - not 'time!

Shock
KatherineJaneway · 26/05/2020 07:07

They're slowly opening more and more branches after the initial trial run. They deliver through Uber Eats in some areas.

CatAndHisKit · 27/05/2020 00:05

Katherine - great, I 'm hoping for June the 1st (take away).

Costa has to be one of the most depressing sites on the modern British high street. Good riddance I say. Why not, shock horror, buy coffee from an independent?
