So from 1 June I can go to a market but I still can't officially go for a walk with my mum and dad, a run with more than one friend or a picnic with my nephews? Or sit in the garden with any of them?

Just checking Grin

Surely they need to expand bubbles / family groups soon. So many people will be going back to work, but still you can only meet one other person from outside your household.

Bonkers.

AStarSoBright · 25/05/2020 19:18

I hope that the rules around meeting people will be relaxed on Thursday. They have given advance warning to shops and markets to allow then time to prepare.

LilyPond2 · 25/05/2020 19:30

Agree. The "Don't see family outside your own household" rule made sense when we were on almost full lockdown, but it's now turning into some kind of cruel joke. "Yes, absolutely fine for your child to be in a class with 14 other people, yes we're opening up garden centres and car show rooms, yes absolutely fine to view a property with a view to buying or renting. See a member of your family you say? Oh no! That would be far too dangerous!"

GreyGardens88 · 25/05/2020 19:33

What about us who have to get public transport to see relatives I think we are being forgotten about. I don't want to go 6 months without seeing my parents

CodenameVillanelle · 25/05/2020 19:35

I think they should allow people to meet up in groups as long as they stay outdoors. The evidence seems to show that outdoor transmission is negligible. They could put a maximum number in to prevent massive gatherings but maybe up to 10 to allow for two large families.

Bramblebear92 · 25/05/2020 19:39

In Spain and Italy people were allowed to see family and friends (including visiting homes) from early May. They're ahead of us obviously, but you would have thought there would be some indication as to when this might be allowed. Surely we can't have all shops, pubs, restaurants and cinemas open (as may be the case by July), but still no mention of household mixing being allowed. Hmm

ProseccoSupernova · 25/05/2020 19:42

Oh come on, he clearly explained he is giving the shops notice now So they have time to prepare! More details on other aspects of the lockdown release will come later in the week.

Firef1y72 · 25/05/2020 19:47

They won't tell us any change in the rules around (socially distanced) meeting of people until the last minute. Otherwise a great number of people will just say, sod it it's only 1/2/3 days early

LilyPond2 · 25/05/2020 19:50

Do you think shop opening should be prioritised over allowing families to meet, Prosecco? Rules announced drafted by people who know the price of everything and the value of nothing!

Flowersinthewild · 25/05/2020 19:54

1st June is a week away and also the shops are not opening till 15th June which is 3 weeks away. Obviously there will be new announcements before then but these places need notice to sort out staff and social distancing etc seeing family and friends does not need planning to that extent. Simple.

ProseccoSupernova · 25/05/2020 19:55

Did I say that lilypond?! I would hazard a guess that on Thursday they will confirm that people can see family in small groups from 1st June. So therefore ahead of most shops opening. He clearly said he was giving shops advance notice so they can prepare, did you actually listen to his statement?

TorysSuckRevokeArticle50 · 25/05/2020 20:03

They didn't have time to think through the full message today. They had to throw some scraps to the dogs to distract us from the Dominic Cummings debacle and today's scraps were shops. If we're still stalking about Cummings tomorrow we'll get permission to meet family or a cheque for every household or whatever else they things will make us look in A different direction.
